That's a nice shot of Alcatraz on that cam! I didn't know any of those bird facts, very interesting. I have noticed just watching in my backyard that certain birds seem to always fly much higher than others. Usually bigger birds, like hawks, ravens and Mississippi Kites ( [ link to www.allaboutbirds.org (secure)] I figured it's because they're looking for prey and I assume that is a factor, but it certainly makes sense that the air conditions would impact how high or low any bird may fly.
