The way the majority of us medical personnel are feeling about Obamacare, I'd venture to bet we'd all be willing to write the note & photocopy it for every kid & parent that wants one, for free!

It's a pretty sad state of affairs. Back in the 90's when I was in high school, we could actually walk or take our cars to the nearest fast food place everyday. Or go home and have lunch. Whatever. But we can't have that anymore. There's too much scariness in the world. Gotta keep the precious children in their bubble wrapped world. Also, bullies.

Now they're locked into school all day like convicts. There is no escaping the big butted one's food plan. You'll eat this soy nugget and you'll like it. In 2013, a PB&J from home is contraband.

The government is systematically severing all ties you have with your children so they can grow up to be productive little loyal servants.

In addition, these loyal little servants need just the right amount of brainpower to do their allotted tasks, so require a certain minimal level of nutrition in their diet.

I suppose they are now going to set up some kind of government backed lunches to feed our kids and put crap in them to dumb down the population even more..don't trust those who have proven to be untrustworthy people! No notes in Texas as far as I know. Besides, the lunches we send are more healthy than the pre-packaged crap they try and serve my kids. Nothing is "cooked" any more.

Fuck school and the entire educational system. No wonder I opted out of school in the 10th grade and got my Diploma Equivalency.

Might have missed out on some social opportunities because of that, but I know that I'm ultimately better off because of it.

If you read the letter it is from a pre-school. It is also a government funded pre-school which means the children would be from low income families.

Now, I am not a fan of public school. My kids were homeschooled and the few years they attended public school they always had a home packed lunch. However, I think when you are talking about pre-school this is a unique situation.

Having taught pre-school for a few years what it takes to get 15 to 20, 4 year olds sitting down at a table is not easy. Add placing a meal in front of them and having them stay in their seat to eat the meal is not for the weak. Fighting and grabbing each other's food is a constant. Then you add what most parents sent to school for their kids to each, impossible.

If even one kid had a fruit roll up and the kids next to him didn't, the entire lunch table would turn to chaos.

I remember one parent would send a cup of noodles each day. Can you imagine the teacher having to leave the class, heat the noodles and bring the cup back? One time the little girl spilled the noodles (at 4 it happens) The parent lost it and blamed the teacher because the kid had a burn (light not 3rd degree) on her leg. She threatened to sue the school.

If this was anything other than a pre-school classroom I would pull my kid out of the program but...
