I just don't see to much special about it other than we are finally going through the 2nd peak of the current maximum.

Finally seeing some good spots on the Sun, but it still looks like we are going to finish this maximum out with much lower than average activity.

Sunspot count is only 148 at the moment.

To measure the sun's magnetic field with amateur equipment is very difficult. You need a large aperture telescope to gather enough light for spectroscopy, then you need a special type of polarizing spectroscope called a stellar spectropolarimeter.

The Zeeman effect shows the magnetic field strength by the splitting of the absorption lines in the polarimeter.
