FIREBALL/ASTEROID/METEOR thread-updated daily
Well, since GLP has on going Earthquake and Solar threads..and being I'm such a space nerd, I have decided to do a Fire In The Sky thread.
To the shills, if the subject doesn't interest you, don't bother to read (or comment) further. I'ts only a distraction to those who find it interesting and entertaining.

I'll begin with this video with a summary of yesterday's reports.

Re: FIREBALL/ASTEROID/METEOR thread-updated daily
The following sources of meteoric activity are expected to be active through November 20:

The activity from the Andromedids (AND) can still be seen. This is a famous shower that produced some brilliant displays during the 19th century. Since then the main orbit of the particles from comet 3D/ remnants may be seen from October 26 through November 20 with maximum activity occurring on November 8. The radiant is currently located at 01:20 (020) +22, which lies in eastern Pisces, 10 degrees west of the 2nd magnitude star Hamal (Alpha Arietis). Rates would most likely be less than 1 per hour no matter your location. With an entry velocity of 19 km/sec., the average Andromedid meteor would be of slow velocity.

The Southern Taurids (STA) are currently active from a radiant located at 03:04 (046) +12. This position lies in southeastern Aries, 8 degrees north of the 3rd magnitude star known Menkar (Alpha Ceti). These meteors may be seen all night long but the radiant is best placed near 0200 local daylight time (LDT) when it lies on the meridian and is located highest in the sky. Rates at this time should be near 2 per hour regardless of your location. With an entry velocity of 29 km/sec., the average Southern Taurid meteor would be of slow velocity.

The Northern Taurids (NTA) are now active from a large radiant centered at 03:08 (047) +20, which lies in eastern Aries, close to the position occupied by the fourth magnitude star known as Delta Arietis. The radiant is best placed near 0200 local daylight time (LDT), when it lies highest above the horizon. Meteors from the Northern Taurids strike the atmosphere at 29km/sec., which would produce meteors of slow velocity. Expected rates would be near two per hour, no matter your location.

NEW: Every night, a network of NASA all-sky cameras scans the skies above the United States for meteoritic fireballs. Automated software maintained by NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office calculates their orbits, velocity, penetration depth in Earth's atmosphere and many other characteristics. Daily results are presented here on Spaceweather.com.

On Oct. 28, 2013, the network reported 14 fireballs.

FIRE IN THE SKY: Newly Discovered Asteroid 2013 UV3 Will Buzz Earth On Tuesday, October 29, Closer Than The Moon!!

October 28, 2013 - SPACE - According to NASA's JPL Small-Body Database Browser, a newly discovered Asteroid 2013 UV3 will fly by the Earth on Tuesday, the 29th of October at 0.7 Lunar Distance (LD), closer to our planet than the Moon.

One LD is equal to 384,401 km, which is the distance between the Earth and the Moon. Therefore, 2013 UV3 will pass at 268.807km from the Earth.

NASA lists the condition code for the asteroid with a 7, which means that the object's path could be quite unpredictable given that code 0 refers to a path that is certain, while 9 denotes a high degree of uncertainty.

DOOMSDAY: Unprecedented Escalated Preparations Are Now Underway To Prevent The Extinction Of Mankind

*Snip*

October 29, 2013 - UNITED NATIONS - It's a scenario familiar to any science fiction fan: An asteroid is hurtling toward Earth, and humans must deflect or destroy it to save themselves and every other living creature on the planet.

But unlike most sci-fi plots, this one is a real threat, right now. And the United Nations is on it.

Last week, the U.N. General Assembly approved the creation of an International Asteroid Warning Group. Former NASA astronaut Ed Lu and other members of the Association of Space Explorers have been calling for the formation of a global asteroid-fighting group for years, but the meteor that exploded above Chelyabinsk, Russia, in February got people taking the ASE's recommendations seriously.

The new U.N. plan to save Earth from killer astroids has three basic components, drawn heavily from the Association of Space Explorers and Lu's asteroid-battling nonprofit, the B612 Foundation.

wow,
basketball size and boom.

I wonder how reports decline as winter weather and holiday activities increase.
On one hand it seems people maybe indoors at higher rates, however they also may travel the roads more often. Going to and fro festivus events may actually increase sightings, for it may provide an advantage point to see the skies.
Warm weather gatherings, activities may actually provide distractions from viewing the heavens above.

I scan everything when sky watching and see much. Looking deep into the atmosphere for small sized objects.

I'm not sure what this was that I saw last night driving home from work. It was still light out as you can see in the video. Fireball?? I was trying to watch the road and record at the same time. I wasn't in the city so I couldn't just pull over, but after the video ends, it got a little more interesting. I could clearly see it start coming downwards and looked like it had a "tail." I was turning off the highway as this was happening and no longer had view of it. But wanted to share with you what I was able to record.
