Great thread! The American Blackout movie didn't even touch on any of this stuff, and if an EMP attack happened during the fall going into winter...or winter itself...can you imagine the casualties that would result just from not having heat alone?

I thought most vehicles would not be able to operate, so just remember, those that have a bugout location wouldn't be able to get to it unless by foot!

I have not read the book, but my husband has it upstairs so guess I should some time....One Second After.

Call me crazy, but if it does happen, I hope for winter.

Will eliminate many of the thugs before they have a chance to rape, torture & pillage.

Sadly, will also kill many others.

On the one hand, you're right...but I don't know if I could wish for it. Either way it would be bad...even in summer, can you imagine the garbage build up in the cites in particular? The DISEASE that would be festering? The STENCH since food (and anything else) would rot faster?!

When I took a ghost tour in Gettysburg a few weeks ago, they talked about how after the battle in July, there were so many dead they were just piled up. In addition to that, there was excrement in the streets from the soldiers, rotten horses, mules...body parts. The tour guide said said the stench was so bad it could be smelled 2 hours away in Philadelphia if the wind was right.

Summer would be bad & make it easier for the pillagers to find the preppers. I know I sound harsh, but such a situation is about survival & if ma nature helps -- then good.
