666 is the exact number you get if you add up the hebrew letters of the name Judas Iscariot, using the ancient hebrew letter to number system that was around 2000 years ago when John the Seer wrote Revelations.
Who better to worship as their man-god in the last days than this man, who betrayed Jesus and got him killed? The last persecution by the antichrist will be decidedly anti-Jesus, anti-church, anti-christian. What if the antichrist forces everyone to accept a mark that contains the name of the man who betrayed Jesus?
