Some Abnormal Looking Ripple Clouds
Pictures taken in the Seattle area, looking South West, around 2:30 pm on November 3rd. The clouds don't seem to fit the classification of Merged Stratocumulus or Separated Stratocumulus. The pictures were taken within about 2 minutes. Then the ripples quickly just faded out. The ripples formed under the top layer of clouds and were very active. not to be dramatic, but almost like they were rolling or boiling.

Just wanted to share. Image number 2 really caught my eye. Reminds me of tossing a rock in a calm body of water.

Re: Some Abnormal Looking Ripple Clouds
Anyone have some ideas? I did find some people see those type of clouds before an earthquake. But a lot of the time they see a "rainbow" mixed in the clouds.

Solar flares charge the upper atmosphere and can affect clouds like that I think.

Saw some this eve in ontario like that.

Thank you for the good feedback. I know not all odd clouds are chemtails/contrails or HAARP. These are, for all I can remember the truly weirdest, almost creepy clouds I've ever seen. I look up plenty and often. I wish I could have got the video of them fading/boiling out. But it happened to fast. Just good to know others think they're very abnormal, as well.

Unusual, but not unnatural. It's caused by two layers of air moving at different speeds in the same direction. Very nice pictures.

Keep a listen out for the birds OP, they are in tune with nature and instinctively sense when things aren't natural.
If they go silent, it's not a good sign, they're unsure.

The ripples can be cause under natural conditions AND unnatural. They wouldn't be so weird if they didn't appear as often as they do here.

Re: Some Abnormal Looking Ripple Clouds
We get those clouds. I always think of earthquakes. Often there is no correlation to a quake (that I feel) then again, I noticed a nice clearly defined set of clouds on the days around the 6.7 we had a few months ago.

I think your pictures are a nice example of what I consider clearly defined ones.

Ahh - so that's why I see so many of them. Makes sense with the winds we get on our long, skinny island.

We had those and similar clouds here in the foothills of NC yesterday. Ours looks more "flat" ... like someone spilled cloud material on a sheet of glass. *grins* I know, a silly description.

Naw, I understand. The ripples I saw looked more dramatic and odd in person. They faded so fast, I was lucky to even get my cam out. But no time to find a better setting. It was just on landscape distance mode. For some reason the pics came out about 3 times darker then it actually was outside.
