Anonymous Coward User ID: 97697 United States 05/25/2006 10:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just about every couple of months, some bozo who doesn't have the slightest idea about astronomy comes up with "the Sun's in the wrong place" or "the Moon's crescenmt is upside down", and one of the few people here who actually stayed awake during 9th grade science class tries to set him straight, to no avail. If you want to believe that the Sun is in the wrong place, knock yourself out. Maybe it ties in with "chem-trails" or the Lizards, or the Little Purple Men from Arcturus. |

Very few streets that run East-West are exactly that. Most are of by a couple of degrees because of local conditions/landscape. |

Cryin Wont Help Ya (OP) User ID: 74270 United States 05/25/2006 12:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My town is Billings MT. The street I take to drive to work is Poly. Check the map - it's E/W. Also, to answer an earlier post, I realize that the sun rises a little to the North this time of year - however, when I was checking the sun's location, it had been a couple hours since rising. This is not me looking up into the sky and saying, "hmm, the sun looks kinda weird today." It is based on what my software, which when I purchased it several years ago was spot-on, but now is off. Or should I say the Sun/Earth positioning is off. I would really like some collaboration with other software owners. |
answer User ID: 91000 United States 05/25/2006 12:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | yes the suns position is off a bit most likly due to pole shift anomly the north pole is moving north west as i post this the chandler wobble has stopped and seems to be reversing check out the moons position at sunset too it seems to be a bit off to the north west but consider that the sun is still shining all is well |

molesworth NLI User ID: 90603 United Kingdom 05/25/2006 03:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ahem, at "this time of year" the sun doesn't rise due east. For New York it's at 04:33 local time, and on an azimuth of 62.5 degrees - almost 30 degrees north of east. And by 5:00 it's still on a bearing of 65.75 degrees, not due east. (It doesn't get to due east until around 07:40.) You can try to ignore the debunkers all you want, but when it comes to something like this we're proven right time and again... |

Circuit Breaker User ID: 2782 United States 05/25/2006 04:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "the same debunkers jump on these kinds of threads every time" And the same woo-woos start these threads every year. In six months they'll be claiming the sun is too far south. "ignore molesworth, circuit broken, woman 2.0, and some of the other usual suspects..." Yes, ignore the "debunkers" and remain ignorant like the AC. Heaven forbid you actually learn something. If the sun were too far north or was in the wrong place, sunrise and sunset times would not be correct. But ignore that fact because the AC does. "I tell other people to ignore them in their posts, but does tick you off when it's your thread." So, you don't like it when people don't believe you or have an opposing point of view? Then prove them wrong. Cough up something that proves the sun is out of place. Simply saying it does not make it so. If you don't want people posting in your threads that have an opposing point of view, then start your own forum where you can ban anyone you choose. A voice of reason in a world of woo-woos. |
