ANTI-DOOM LIST: 10 things to do before TEPCO starts tinkering with reactor #4
GOT WEEKEND PLANS? Word is, Tepco will begin to remove the bent/burned/brittle remains of the spent fuel pool starting early next week. They seem to be sending out mixed signals...they say they may postpone, but have been also running disaster drills. So while Tepco preps, here are some things you may want to prep for...since it's pretty unlikely that this will go off without a hitch. Of course, we will be watching closely for signs of smoke, fire, ambulances en route to the plant, and big blue rainbows over Fuku - but in the meantime...

1) Get everything done outside that you need to do in the next few months. Bring in tomato plants, patio furniture, etc...here in Michigan we did this weeks ago, but it will vary from state to state depending on climate. Have tarps to cover what stays outside, including any cars you aren't planning on driving alot.

2) Car maintainance. Do it now. Any of those little things you plan on fixing or doing soon, do now. The goal is to MINIMIZE time spent outdoors.

3) Weatherstrip the S#!T out of your leaky windows and doors. Have a couple rolls of duct tape in your toolbox in case you want to fortify your enclosure. After all, it's what Tepco fixes a leaky nuke plant with. Get a couple pet-odor furnace filters from Home Depot or Petsmart. They contain activated carbon and will help filter out bad stuff in your air. A Hepa unit indoors will help too, if you can afford one.

4) Stock up on the things you need on a daily/weekly basis. Try to order 3 month supply of meds, or find a way to order meds on line if you go to the pharmacy alot. Cat food, kitty litter, snacks for the kids, copious amounts of wine, whatever. Fill up those cabinets. Don't forget the Baking Soda, you will need it to decontaminate fruits and vegetables.

5) Stock up on water. As much as you can, while its still somewhat uncontaminated. Reverse Osmosis, distillled...you can buy this at the grocery store for 50 cents a gallon. Have a way to filter more in your house. Hopefully you are all doing this already but to those late to the party, do it now.

6) Start faking an illness, or mention one that you already have...alot. Make sure your boss knows about it. Back flaring up, kidney stones...things that are hard to pinpoint and don't exactly need a doctors note. Now I know this sounds bad, lying and all, but consider the alternative... telling your employer you can't come into work because "The fallout is bad today" will probably not fly. I doubt Obama is going to tell everyone to stay home from work while Fuku burns to the ground. This is especially important if you work on Wall Street...remember 911?

7) If you didn't like 6 you aren't going to like this one either...do the same for your kids. Better yet, talk to their teachers (or in my case college instructors) about long-distance learning. Doing school from home, like when kids are really sick. This is easy to set up if they are in college. You don't want all that tuition going down the drain. I don't know about elementary, middle and high school, but start asking questions now if things get bad. Because if the same thing happens as it did in 311, it will be business as usual and your kids will be sent out for recess like nothing is wrong. If your kids school hasn't caught on to this by now, they aren't going to.

8)If you haven't found this out already, call every grocery store in your area and find out which ones carry produce from the SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE. I can tell you right now, it's going to be the more expensive ones. And for god's sakes, learn how to COOK.

9) Really think long and hard if you need a geiger. The cheapest ones are 150.-, go in with your neighbors or family and split the cost if you need to. Have the really hardcore stuff, N-95 masks and a respirator if you live in Hawaii, Alaska, Oregon, Washington, or California, or somewhere where it RAINS alot. We really all need these. Order it NEW online, at least have one for the brave soul who will be going to the mailbox everyday. The used/WW2 ones they sell at the Army/Navy Surplus have asbestos in the canisters so don't buy one of those.

10) If you are a Medical Marijuana patient, stock up. Make sure your care-giver or grower is growing INDOORS, and if not, find a new one.

And for more info, watch this cute little film from the Civil Defense made during bomb testing. It gives you an idea of our situation if #4 goes horribly wrong. Only instead of the fallout lasting a few hours or days, it will likely be much longer, weeks or months. There are alot of variables to this, the duration of the event will be determined by how much fuel is involved, among other things. Hope this list helps, and provokes some thought and comraderie. Because if you haven't noticed by now, we are on our own with this.

How to survive fallout from an atomic attack:

Tepco practiced the disaster drill for emergency of reactor4 pool fuel removal. They were stating the fuel won’t reach the critical state or affect the outside of the plant area.

They are going to start the fuel removal of reactor4 pool from next week.

The disaster drill was practiced from 10/25/2013.

Re: ANTI-DOOM LIST: 10 things to do before TEPCO starts tinkering with reactor #4
The operators of the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant have postponed the extremely complicated and difficult task of removing damaged atomic rods.

New video footage from a robot has revealed new leaks within the damaged reactors meaning the rods now can’t be taken out as planned.

One of the fuel assemblies was damaged as far back as 1982 when it was mishandled during a transfer and is bent out of shape.

Kazuaki Matsui, the executive director of Japan’s Institute of Applied Energy said: “It’s very difficult to remove a spent rod because parts of the wall and the bottom of the reactor are all melted. We’ve never had to deal with this before so that adds to the complication.”

Cheaper than moving to another country :/

I understand Caldicott and Gundersen saying that but for most of us, that is not...feasible.

And certainly not possible on short notice.

Ever apply for a travel visa? lol

What? Why did we not hear about this before? Arnie Gunderson was right in his recent vid. Now what?????

There is no good news about this situation. Damned if they remove the rods and damned if they don't because the next EQ will finish us off.

They knew all along that there was damage to the fuel rods & impossible to remove them safely??? So all this talk about removing the rods is just a "show", theatrics to make them look like they are trying to fix the problem??

So now it seems we wait for the next EQ. End of game!

Re: ANTI-DOOM LIST: 10 things to do before TEPCO starts tinkering with reactor #4
OK... was really looking into this today....

1. Fuel Dispensers (the racks were put into), have warped and been damaged.. hence the fires......

2. The cladding.. of the fuel rods (in the canisters), can no longer be confirmed due to

2.1 Salt water cooling
2.2 Fires
2.3 Warping/ Damage

3. Boron usage was minimalized by the Salt in the water
3.1 Age of the Rods themselves
3.2 Poor handling when inserted into a spent fuel pool.

4. Zirconium burn off: This was meant to decrease radioactive activity, and is now gone/ depleted.
4.1 If it is still somewhat available it is like a 'hail storm' with holes in your roof.....

This was from a reliable but anonymous source.
It's life as we know it, but only just.

Thank you for this list. I have a lot of things on it, but some I don't and will be adding to it. I have already stopped buying a lot of our fruits and veggies from the West Coast of the US and Canada. I always try to buy local, or at least Canadian, then US, then North American. It isn't going to leave us any options now.

Re: ANTI-DOOM LIST: 10 things to do before TEPCO starts tinkering with reactor #4
Ex-SKF says its a GO: Monday in Japan, Sunday for us :0

According to NHK (11/15/2013), TEPCO will start removing the fuel assemblies from the Spent Fuel Pool of Reactor 4 at Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant on Monday, November 18.

TEPCO will start with unused (therefore not irradiated) new fuel assemblies (there are 202 of them in the pool). 22 new fuel assemblies will be the first to be moved UNDER WATER into the container (called "cask") in the cask pit, using the fuel handling machine. Then the sealed cask will be lifted out of the pool by the gantry crane onto the truck waiting on the ground, which will transport the cask to the Common Pool about 100 meters away. TEPCO has two casks to be used for transport.

After removing 22 new fuel assemblies, then TEPCO will start removing the spent fuel assemblies. The removal is scheduled to continue until the end of next year, "ahead of schedule" as has been loudly demanded by the LDP politicians.

AND we still need to find the corium.

Since it worked in Chernoble, you would think logically they would do it in FUKU. What is noteworthy here is the distinct absence of any commentary from the International regulatory communities. Why is this, well imo the most glaring answer & I cringe on saying this, is that it is part of Agenda 21 program. I can not find another logical answer the complete silence & media blackout on the subject.

BTW....thank you for all your hard work & continual updates. You and CP are 2 of my heros. Bless you both.

We can't change what has happened, or stop what is still happening. All we can do is try to make it through as best we can.

If ingesting small amounts of borax and baking soda can actually help, then it's good to know.

Also, using it to wash with would be good too I guess.

Glad to read that coffee is a natural source of boron.

I've played around with baking soda and clay and all that stuff, couldn't stand the taste of any of them. What I DO like is apple cider vinegar, so I use that on salads with ground up garlic and spices (will remove particles and detox), and I make Kombucha and drink about 8-12 ozs every day (makes your blood alkaline). You can brew it at home in jars on your counter, and mix with berry tea, etc

The Konbucha is like a miracle drink. But most people don't like the taste.

I also do a shot of coconut oil couple times a week, my health was pretty bad for awhile but its slowly coming around, I really think we can mitigate alot of what has happened to us so far, and avoid the rest as much as possible. But again, no one knows, I worry sometimes, like when I saw the DOE reports in Alaskan fish, that we might be screwed no matter what. If PU is in everything and we just don't know it yet? Well.

But it just makes sense to avoid it this time around, if we can. I really don't know, if we can or not. Or if it will make any difference.

But what I do know is: I was outside the first 3 weeks after the accident because we were moving and selling everything off Craigslist in our yard, I know I was heavily exposed because of the metallic taste and I started havings symptoms 4.13.2011. Bad ones. I wonder if I had been inside then, if I would have all these problems now? Tests showed I had been exposed to Zirconium, which is what the rods are encased in. And I'm a few thousand miles from Japan. Michigan :/

I really can't imagine what is going to happen to people in Tokyo.

if till today nothing happened even after 2 yrs, I trust them. They have studied every possible scenarios and I am 100% sure nothing will happen. Pls dont get distracted and waste your life thinking about what will not happen.

Japan and TEPCO will always think about humans before they do anything atleast for the sake of their near and dear ones.
