Re: ANTI-DOOM LIST: 10 things to do before TEPCO starts tinkering with reactor #4
if till today nothing happened even after 2 yrs, I trust them. They have studied every possible scenarios and I am 100% sure nothing will happen. Pls dont get distracted and waste your life thinking about what will not happen.

Japan and TEPCO will always think about humans before they do anything atleast for the sake of their near and dear ones.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 50050970

Yeah nothing happened except THREE MELTDOWNS that went China Syndrome and a couple fuel pools that EXPLODED and BURNED, lol.

Which of course Tepco lied endlessly about, including the fact they are pouring 400 tons of contaminated water into the Pacific Ocean EVERY DAY and have been for 2 [email protected] YEARS.

LYING ABOUT ALL OF IT.

"Nothing happened" except:

Thanks for the list, RadChick. You continue to be an absolute angel to perfect strangers. Made me think of a few odd things I'm forgetting myself, also from #10... but if you can grow hydro veggies, you can sure as hell manage hydro hydro ;) nobody's going to be flying around in helicopters poking cameras at people's skylights once the fun really starts.

So, is it finally at that point?

TEPCO webcam is down again, of course...

I'd recommend P99-100 filters, realistically you never know what you'll have to crawl through or under, and having silica, asbestos, and oil protection in one filter is ideal. Plus you can use 'em until they no longer suck air.

Borax and Baking Soda?

[link to hawaiihealthguide.com]
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29174145

bit late but yes.... and sadly lead....
 Quoting: Citizenperth

We can't change what has happened, or stop what is still happening. All we can do is try to make it through as best we can.

If ingesting small amounts of borax and baking soda can actually help, then it's good to know.

Also, using it to wash with would be good too I guess.

Glad to read that coffee is a natural source of boron.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29174145

I've played around with baking soda and clay and all that stuff, couldn't stand the taste of any of them. What I DO like is apple cider vinegar, so I use that on salads with ground up garlic and spices (will remove particles and detox), and I make Kombucha and drink about 8-12 ozs every day (makes your blood alkaline). You can brew it at home in jars on your counter, and mix with berry tea, etc

The Konbucha is like a miracle drink. But most people don't like the taste.

I also do a shot of coconut oil couple times a week, my health was pretty bad for awhile but its slowly coming around, I really think we can mitigate alot of what has happened to us so far, and avoid the rest as much as possible. But again, no one knows, I worry sometimes, like when I saw the DOE reports in Alaskan fish, that we might be screwed no matter what. If PU is in everything and we just don't know it yet? Well.

But it just makes sense to avoid it this time around, if we can. I really don't know, if we can or not. Or if it will make any difference.

But what I do know is: I was outside the first 3 weeks after the accident because we were moving and selling everything off Craigslist in our yard, I know I was heavily exposed because of the metallic taste and I started havings symptoms 4.13.2011. Bad ones. I wonder if I had been inside then, if I would have all these problems now? Tests showed I had been exposed to Zirconium, which is what the rods are encased in. And I'm a few thousand miles from Japan. Michigan :/

I really can't imagine what is going to happen to people in Tokyo.
 Quoting: RadChick

Well, you know, we've made it this far. Have to keep on keeping on.

After reading about all the past nuclear tests and accidents in the last, what, 70 years?, I figure we, even via our parents, have all been exposed to things we never should have been. Yet we have survived. This Fuku event is just the worst event so far...because of its location and also the magnitude. The site has so many reactors, it's huge. Right on the ocean, on saturated ground, etc..

I wonder about anything from the Pacific region now. We have to be aware of where the fish, rice, and coconuts are coming from, where food originates, if it is contaminated. Anything we can do or get to offset the exposure from so many different sources, is good to try at least.

Anything we can do to survive and still have some kind of a life to live, is worth a try.

Hemp could clean up ALOT of our contamination problems...oil, gas, etc but it is extremely proficient at pulling rads out of soils. There is a biofuel lab near Chernobyl that has been playing around for YEARS with decontamination and then turning the plants into biofuel.

Interesting that after WW2 we made Japan agree to NOT grow hemp. You need a special permit, and its very hard to get. Only a dozen perfectures allow it at all.

My prayers are with this project.
I send platinum light of healing and invincibility.
For the sea life if for nothing else.
I wish Harmony, Love, Truth and Justice for all my brothers and sisters. With the United forces of the silent vibrations of our thoughts, we are strong, healthy and happy thus making a link of universal fraternity..

I am always amazed how everyone is running around like crazy about this doom or that doom where this really is the main issue. Anytime I mention Fukushima, it's like "Oh here he goes again". It's criminal how it's not being reported and everyone has this misguided idea that Chernobyl is "fixed". It should be mandatory that everyone have to watch "Chernobyl Heart" and "On Fukushima Beach".

I know there are other issues of importance and you can't spend your whole life freaking out but the level of global denial and ignorance is surreal. It seems the only people that take it seriously is anyone with a cancer. Everyone else is more worried about apps for their iphone.

I am stunned how all the different reports of mass die offs recently are always punctuated with "scientists are baffled". I know there have been large ocean die offs before but you would think the first thing they would look at would be if radiation played a part.

Also, I'm sure there were many chemicals and toxic pollutants that the tsunami dragged out into the Pacific in addition to the radiation. Talk about a witch's brew.

I don't think they're that stupid and what does worry me is why the nations around the world are racking up the debt they are and not really paying attention to Fukushima. Is there something "coming" that makes all this moot?

It's ironic that we have all this social media and cable news channels out the wazoo but no communication.

In the end radiation doesn't play favorites. Sadly this will be one of the few times that everyone will be treated equally.

Excellent post, thanks!
A flag flown upside down is a symbol of a country in distress. As a result of the many traitors and enemies inside our own government and the many unconstitutional acts, legislation and atrocities passed and/or committed against our lives, liberty and property, as well as a reckless foreign policy meant to enrich and empower an already wealthy group of 'elites' while wreaking havoc around the globe and committing atrocities against large numbers of innocent peoples in the name of 'spreading democracy', the United States is no longer a free country and the lives of its citizens as well as the lives of our brothers and sisters around the globe, are in dire danger and distress.

Plus you can use 'em until they no longer suck air.

btw.. our friend hemp is a 'known' cleanser......
 Quoting: Citizenperth

That it is, and that's rapidly being corroborated by medical studies around the world... but it will continue to go underutilized for the same reasons as always.

At least by those who can't cultivate a weed.

Only a dozen perfectures allow it at all.

been researching the plant for about 13 years.
eating it raw and fresh best (oils are heat sensitive so turn to trans fats)
has the biochemistry to rebuild every system within body including neurological and endocrinal.
we have more receptors for cannabinoids (endo) than any other receptors by far.
the nutritional spectrum is greater and more complete than any other plant/food source on planet.
the ultimate free radical scavenger. radiation is the worst free radical in existence as it not only has electron instability but neutron aswell.

My prayers are with this project.
I send platinum light of healing and invincibility.
For the sea life if for nothing else.

Doug Dasher, University of Alaska Fairbanks, Nov. 6, 2013 (at 10:00 in): We also worked with the North Slope Borough on the Unusual Mortality Event with the ringed seals. [...] We didn’t see any radiation levels in the seal tissues that would indicate levels of radiation that should have caused the lesions and illnesses that they saw on the seals, but we couldn’t document what the fallout pattern would have been at this time the seals were on the ice when the Fukushima plumes were passing that area. Nor to my knowledge has there been any definitive virus or otherwise defined as to what exactly affected the seals at that time.

Bering Strait: Ice seal UME, 2012: When this occurred people were describing the seals as without new hair and tired. You can see the little orange bumps which have never been previously reported in seals. The red raised bumps were reported through November. So you can see the bumps that are also on seal flippers, red and white sores that hunters have been reporting. Other things that people have reported are that they can hear the seal breathing and rasping breath. Seal may be breathing very hard. Also that the seals are making shorter dive duration. The lungs may be congested. There were about twenty seal carcasses sent to specialists Animals were choosing to be on shore, rather than in the water. Also an odd smell during butchering. [...] Also testing for other possible environmental causes including radiation. This has been a big scare because of the power plant disaster in Japan and other sources of radiation in the environment. NSB [North Slope Borough] have pushed to have testing done. All of the seals sampled are being tested at UAF for radiation

Still not telling isotopes or amounts :/

The truth must be told, Fukushima a major global threat to all living flora and fauna… Mainstream media not best source of information — Gundersen: Only thing saving us is the internet

Columnist Kay MacDuffee, for the Caledon Enterprise (Greater Toronto), Nov. 13, 2013: Perhaps the most pressing and disturbing information that goes unreported is the urgency of Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant situation. 300 tons [now reported to be 400 tons] (*Note from RC: I think it's more like 4000 tons a day)of contaminated water are flowing out of this facility daily into the Pacific Ocean. While much of the world has continued with their lives forgetting about the Fukushima disaster, scientists from across the world who have been monitoring the radiation leaking out of Fukushima Plant, have found that the rate of flow has actually been increasing dramatically, causing a major global threat to all living flora and fauna. I am always reluctant to spread bad news, but the truth must be told. I have read and researched the facts on this story from many sources and it keeps coming up the same. This, despite the fact that after each CBS news story reporting radioactivity signs on the US West Coast, the reporter adds with a cheery smile, “But you can still play and swim on the beaches here”. Or “But you may still eat (the contaminated) bluefin tuna.” And more and more often, mainstream media is not the best source of information.

This Toronto columnist NAILED it today hf

Sad state of affairs when Tepco's best was Operation Superglue. Ya, it really was the best of the best.

'Trust Us': World's Most Perilous Nuclear Operation Set To Begin

"No one here trusts Tokyo Electric."

That's how Reuters, quoting former local resident Ichiro Kazawa, concludes their latest reporting on the pending and enormously dangerous operation scheduled to begin inside the crippled Reactor 4 building at the Fukushima nuclear plant.

"Full release from the Unit-4 spent fuel pool, without any containment or control, could cause by far the most serious radiological disaster to date."

As Common Dreams has previously reported, the operation to remove the fuel rods from Reactor 4 has nuclear experts sounding every alarm bell they can find in order to draw attention to the potentially devastating results if something goes wrong with the effort.

And as Kazawa's comments make clear, very few find trust in the promises coming from the plant's owner, the Tokyo Electric Company (or TEPCO).
