My weather report for tonight says:

"Mild with rain; a brief period of damaging winds in the evening"

Well then, as long as it is brief? LoL

CANADA WATCHING... ==discussion==

A low pressure system from Colorado is expected to track towards the
Great Lakes and will rapidly intensify into a significant fall storm
as it heads towards Lake Superior later on Sunday. Its associated
cold front is forecast to reach Southwestern Ontario late Sunday
afternoon then blast east across the remainder of the regions Sunday
night.

In advance of this fall storm, southerly winds will continue to pump
in mild air from the Southern United States. Hence fair weather under
various blends of sun and cloud along with mild temperatures are
expected today. On Sunday, stronger southerly winds will help
temperatures to rise well into the mid teens, with a few locales such
as Niagara and Windsor possibly getting into the upper teens. Showers
are likely Sunday, with many areas receiving a total of 15 to 25 mm
thanks to tropical moisture coming up from the Gulf of Mexico.
However there may be some rain-free periods of a couple hours
As well.

Very strong and gusty southwesterly winds are expected to herald the
arrival of the strong cold front late on Sunday. Thunderstorms may
form along and ahead of the cold front. Some of these thunderstorms
may be severe with damaging winds the main threat, especially for
Southwestern Ontario.

In the wake of the cold front, very strong winds will persist into
Monday with much colder air from the Arctic expected to blast in from
the northwest in the wake of the front by Monday night. There is
potential for snow squalls by Tuesday in the snow belt regions to the
southeast of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay as winter roars in with a
vengeance.

Environment Canada will monitor this developing situation closely.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as
warnings may be required or extended.

Thank you Luisport, in Manitoulin and the North Shore (Ontario) we are hearing of 15 to 20 mm of rain with winds of 40 to 60 kph for this weekend. We have had high winds for the last three or four days in advance of what is coming now.

Canadians appreciate your including us in your weather watch....hf

From all the forecast models that are for tomorrow and overnight, I definitely see the possibility for a derecho forming, but nothing like what happened in Joplin. The Joplin tornado was part of a several-day outbreak sequence.

Everyone just keep their eyes on this page here. This is the outlook page for today/tonight, tomorrow, and following day thereafter: [link to www.spc.noaa.gov]

Right now it's still a moderate risk for severe weather.

[link to www.spc.noaa.gov]

^This is the probabilistic outlook. It shows the probability of severe weather within 25 miles of a point. The hatched Area signifies a 10% or greater probability of significant severe weather within 25 miles of a point. But, notice the black circle around the hatched areas on the map. That means that there is a greater than 60% chance of significant severe weather within 25 miles of a given point.

So, we get a lot of hype and dramatic, concerned reactions from many.

Luisport, gets massively defended (and rightfully so for all he does on this site to inform people).

BUT...

We now enter the actual time period of when the storm is formed and passing through these areas.

And no updates.

No reports.

Nothing.

So where is the doom? The desturction? The death?

The houses being torn to shreds?

Isn't that what this thread warned about? Or are we now defining normal thunder/rain storms as Apocalyptic?

Seriously, if this is another wash out... we should all be ashamed of ourselves. A bunch of fucking drama queens and false prophets. So tired of the same old shit here.

No wonder the smart ones walked out of here while they could.

whatever

HIGH RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER

...TORNADO OUTBREAK WITH MULTIPLE SIGNIFICANT TORNADOES AND
WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS EXPECTED ACROSS THE OH VALLEY AND SRN
GREAT LAKES REGION TODAY...

SEVERAL FACTORS APPEAR TO BE COMING TOGETHER FOR A TORNADO OUTBREAK
ACROSS THE OH VALLEY. THE FIRST FACTOR IS THAT THE SYSTEM IS
NEGATIVELY-TITLED AND VERY WELL-ORGANIZED. THE SECOND IS THAT THE
LOW AND MID-LEVEL JETS WILL BECOME FAVORABLY COUPLED IN THE OH
VALLEY TODAY COINCIDING WITH AN OUTBREAK OF STORMS ACROSS THE WARM
SECTOR. THE THIRD IS THAT SUPERCELLS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN DISCRETE
INTO THE MID-AFTERNOON. THESE FACTORS COMBINED WITH EXTREMELY
FAVORABLE LOW-LEVEL SHEAR PROFILES JUSTIFIES THE ISSUANCE OF A HIGH
RISK ACROSS ERN IL...IND AND SW LOWER MI.

Storms/rain are beginning to head easterly already this early in the morning. With dewpoints in the 50s and 60s, when the sun comes up and adds heat into the mix, things are just going to explode.

Major cities with strong tornado threat today include the following: Chicago, Springfield, Peoria, IL; Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, IN; Grand Rapids, Lansing, Detroit, MI; Toledo, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnatti, OH; Louisville, Lexington, to Paducah, KY.

With all these populated areas in the high and moderate risk areas that will see tornadoes and high winds, I expect there will be one of the somewhat rare PDS (particualrly dangerous situation) tornado watches issued before the storms begin to fire.

Indeed. We just had some rain move through here in central Indiana and it still feels quite muggy. Tomorrow we are forecasted to hit 70. This coming after the last few days we've been in the 50s during the day. It's going to get ugly.
