crown chakra Q. ~ a hole in my head, and a sting
the first night of a silent meditation retreat, or possibly the night before, i dreamed that i had a big hole in the top of my head..
the next day during one of the first guided meditations, all focus was drawn to the crown and i found a buzzing, stinging, needlepoint in the centre, like an ant bit me.
the guide then called each student up to ask questions and i brought it up. she replied, "you are in a state of denial and that it is likely due to past drug use."
it didn't seem helpful at the time.. given that i was partaking in a very intensive course, and within 24 hours had a phenomenal experience that blew my mind (heat vision of sorts).. i can't help but think it was a simplistic, disempowering or invalidating thing to say. or is that just me?

otherwise, i've never come across anything to explain it. does anybody with understanding of crown chakra work have any insight at all into what that very real (albeit phenomenal) symptom was?

A knot perhaps?

She might have been right.... that energy should disperse itself about the structure.... not stay in one spot till fade.

But it really oughtn't be discouraging.... imagine the amount of energy that could be released there.

So.... if I may ask.... have you used drugs before?

Don't worry.... I'm in no position to condescend.

hmm

She was being condescending.

Any activity in any if the chakras is an indication of preliminary opening. Everyone experiences it differently.

People who do chakra work describe all sorts of valid experiences when a chakra beins to open - heat, tingling, buzzing, sensing, itching, etc, etc, etc.

Clearly, the experience you had that followed confirms the preliminary opening you were having.

Unfortunately, the meditation field is full patronizing know-it-alls who know nothing and like to pretend they ate better than you.

Keep up the good work OP.

This is very true.

I assumed OP had an already activated Crown, and was mentioning an incremental increase in intensity, rather than an initial activation.

If so, I'll stand by my post still..... with the addition that.... it was either way quite likely that the energy was at that point released.

....and additionally, to note if the 'spot' manifests again during an activated Crown.

This has in fact happened to me at least once, in recent memory. Albeit I am then compelled to 'break it'.

Re: crown chakra Q. ~ a hole in my head, and a sting
An interesting experience. Thank you for sharing it.

Now to be very honest with you..there are a whole host of things you could of experienced ..and without further information there is no easy way to answer your question.. Naturally you sound like you have been exploring something new, and therefore new experiences and sensations are to be expected.

This is a very wide topic..but It is worth saying that the crown chakra, like all other chakras (as well as all other parts of the 'whole' body) seeks to remain in a state of balance (or near balance) with other parts of the 'whole' body) so when you exploring your subtle self (especially for the first time via meditation) it can bring to the surface a great number of things,) which can temporarily take a chakra away from equilibrium and thus you 'feel' something like a 'sting'. I say this from experience.

One of the best way to avoid having experiences is to prepare in advance. Avoid masturbation/sex for a short while before such meditations(which helps keep powerful energies in balance...) Utilise breathing techniques to maintain harmony and equalibrilim throughout the 'whole' body. Utilising (and exploring ' unconditional love') is a powerful and useful way of restoring balance after a meditation..since 'meditation closure' is important.
Finally always seek a higher form of guidance/protection prior to meditation. If you are of a religious background say a small prayer...if not ask the universe for protection/guidance.

Hope this helps, and of course don't take what I say at face value......this is a difficult path with may delights and challenges... but it is your path to walk :)

There's no such thing as chakras. You just had an itch.

"and within 24 hours had a phenomenal experience that blew my mind (heat vision of sorts)"

What you described their is a prime example of the crown Chakra opening or receiving a large quotient of light. It more or less shocks the body due the increase hence the experience you had. This can happen with any chakra, after a couple days of integration you should notice a difference in your perception- It takes a couple of days to adapt to the new energies. I may add you can feel tired in this transition.

Congratulations on your first step! :)

Re: crown chakra Q. ~ a hole in my head, and a sting
two nights ago i experienced a golden crown of energy which hovered above my head for about two hours.
I was working with love energy and it just appeared.
it resembled crackling live tinsel but was small, about 4 inches in diameter and the band was 1 inch thick.

it did not freak me out..i just allowed it to be.

Yep,a small halo though.
Not like the large ones in paintings.

imagine a cylinder rising from my head and the crackling is at the open end.

I must add that this was not a visual thing,I was in the dark and this was an overwhelming feeling.
