Re: Ison (or debris) changing course towards Earth : Proof Inside. updated
It appears to me that Ison may be changing course towards Earth
the reason being that Ison was travelling towards Earth at exactly 10 km/s slower than it was travelling away from the sun last night and now it is 9.8 km/s slower. therefore i think ison must be moving closer to Earth. because surely if (hypothetically)there was no difference between the speed towards Earth and away from the Sun then it would be heading directly towards Earth. Check it out yourself here - [link to theskylive.com]

Also this seems to give the same impression - [link to iswa.gsfc.nasa.gov] as ison moves to the right.

update: difference in speed now 2.9 km/s - significant !

...look this comparison was your suggestion, why are you trying so hard to discredit this thread, if you know a better way then why not contribute instead of trolling or whatever you're doing.sometimes you have to think outside the box.

Ah that is just a line in a model.
Ison's inbound debris field is 250 000 km wide, it will be everywhere for many days!

If in 12 days from 9.8 to 2.5,
Then from 2.5 to 0 would take 2 days.
It is half way from Sun to Earth now, oh my ...

It's far, far wider than that. Probably on the order of 100,000,000-200,000,000 KM.

I meant the size when Ison went TO the Sun.
The outbound, away from Sun, we can guess, yes, very wide.

I calculated with the actual number 2,4 and the actual distance of 83 466 000 km from Earth.

Ison would come 3 824 954 km near earth.
But the difference keeps falling.

Fear?
Does observing, following and counting numbers (that is what we are doing here) induce fear into you?

Keep up the great work with this post. This is the type of info we need to stay on top of. The fact that the shills are so worked up over this subject should tell us something. You know what they say, "The closer you get to the target....the more flack you encounter."

Why would a lower speed mean it's changed course?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 50893531

Ok i'll try - if Ison was travelling at 100 kmh away from the Sun and at the same time was travelling towards the Earth at say 80 kmh then that must mean ison i travelling at an angle to earth. anything less than 8o kmh and it would be travelling
further away from earth any more and it would be closer
