Interesting indeed, my friend; I have used this herb many times and have never seen that Lady. I found Salvia to be unpleasant nearly every time, filled with strange sights and perceptions but without the 'processing time' that makes psychedelic drugs so powerful in the revelations they produce.

The material from the tree bark (the tree probably Mimosa hostilis) is called di-methyl tryptamine (DMT). It is quite a fascinating chemical, to be certain.

It is produced naturally in, probably, nearly every single species of plant and animal. Grasses, for example, are a common source in the USA, and it has been detected in the brains of rats and humans, where it is thought to be released in large quantities during certain traumatic events, as well as during meditation and dreams.

Salvia Divinorum sucks. It's what they sell as legal smoking herb. Tried it maybe @ 30 years ago and the stuff was so bad you couldn't smoke enough to catch a buzz. As for Africa they may have been referring to khat. Which, although I've never tried it, is supposed to be more potent and is usually chewed rather than smoked.

I do not do any of these things anymore but in my past experimented with LSD, Sh rooms, and salvia. If you're going to do it just stay positive. I always said that its in your head. If you think you're going to have a bad trip it will trigger bad thoughts. Be with someone familiar and make sure someone is sober to watch you and you will be just fine. Its actually pretty fun and awesome. Just don't even ask or think about bad trips and I assure you that you will be perfectly fine. LOL. Stay safe and have fun youngster.

It's not fair to compare Salvia to LSD. Salvia is not a very positive trip. It's messed up and very disorienting. The african tree bark drug you were referring to is probably an Ayahuasca ingredient, a DMT based psychedelic brew.

DMT freebase and Ayahuasca are very positive trips. Feelings of love and light, and contact with loving knowledgable entities. With DMT freebase, you are shot out into what we call hyperspace, a vast infinite spirt realm. It's incredible and very spiritual, very positive. The DMT trip lasts 5 to 15 minutes, but feels like thousands of years from inside. It should also be noted that the rapid come up is very pleasant, you literally feel your consciousness expand in the span of a few second.

Salvia is a bit like DMT's evil twin. It also send you out into another realm, but it's a very dark realm. There's something very functional about it. The movement in it is very disorienting. There are no feelings of love and light. There is also entity contact, and from my experience they are also knowledgeable, but they're not loving. There is no warmth, only a endless void. As you leave your body, it does not feel good. It feels like reality is disintegrating and you're falling into an abyss.

PS if you tried it 30 years ago and sucked doesn't mean it will now. Its actually very high in concentrate now and back then they only smoked the leaves themselves. Its like smoking weed 30 years ago. The shit this day and age is way more potent and fun and that's a fact. Go grab you some white widow or Diesel. I promise it would be way better then back in the day. Times have changed and people are cross breeding new and more potent wonderful strains. Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents.

For your first time you would need to use extract to leave your body. I used maybe 0.1 grams of 30x extract.

Another neat thing about Salvia is it has a reverse tolerance. The more you do it, the less you need to trip. Makes me wonder if you can eventually work your way to the point where you can trip endlessly just by chewing Salvia quids all day. I would not want to find out.

Also to clarify my previous post, Ayahuasca is a south american tradition, not african. They didn't brew it with mimosa, but with a wide assortment of other DMT containing plants.

Mimosa bark is nowadays used for DMT freebase / fumarate manufacturing.

Thanks for all the replies and I honestly never smoked any type of this stuff as I said it was either shrooms we went out and picked ourselves or mickey mouse type blotter acid/lsd or sugar pills with a drop of the stuff on it.

I do not make it a point to tell strangers of my past but to my family and friends, it is no secret that I am in recovery. (I can hear the shills and haters ready to pounce).

Anyway, my drug of choice was cocaine and it was preferable to smoke as opposed to snort.

Towards the end of my addiction, I smoked something that was supposed to be cocaine but instead was laced, or possibly even straight up DMT.

There is simply no words that I will ever be able to describe what happened to my mind for about 45 minutes.

While I am not old enough to have experienced acid and LSD from the hippy days of woodstock, I was a hard core addict who was accustomed to going on "missions" for days on end.

When I say "missions", I mean missions.

Going 2 days with no food and little water was common while I was partying. In reality, it was preferable if I had the money.

But that one day I took that hit, even the hardcore addict I was with began to freak the fuck out because she was terrified of the way I reacted.

The women locked herself in the bathroom as I was screaming and going nuts due to hallucinations that were as crystal clear as the keyboard in front of me.

I swear to God it seemed like I stepped into a parallel universe that was always there but i could not see. Shit that was inmate (pocketbooks and common household materials) were suddenly terrifying and living things.

Please keep in mind as you start to make your jokes and comments that I am being truthful and have been in recovery for almost 2 decades with a short relapse of 3 years in between after my divorce.

I have never been one to shy way from getting as high or drunk as possible. But this shit was so wicked, so terrifying, and so fucked up, that I was PRAYING for it to end.

The women stayed in the bathroom nearly the whole time (almost 1 hour) until I finally calmed down.

After that, I THREW THE REST OUT.
