SK intel (which is what you are referring to as "knowing this already") is often wrong on these things. Looks like this time they were right and I think it is important that an official North Korean media outlet would report a political shake up of this magnitude. Probably highest ranking "dismissal" in North Korean power games ever.

The uncle was in favor of softening the hardline stance and slowly opening up to the world. He represented the civilian faction, one of the 2 major factions, the other being the military faction. So it looks like for now the military is on top and things stay as they are. No glasnost for the Norks.

That's obviously the worry for the South I would think.

It is not really good news for anyone in an already-quite-nervous northeast Asia. But perhaps the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know.

What to take from KCNA statement on KJU uncle is that #ROK intel was correct and second they have a good source inside DPRK gov.

Sounds like a huge shake up. Needs to be watched. Hopefully Kim Yong-un doesn't feel the need to consolidate power with a military provocation

He was the husband of kim's aunt. I wonder if he has been executed, or if he and his family have been shipped off to one of the camps.

Could easily be both (he gets executed, his family get sent ot the camps) knowing N.Korea.

The list of those connected to KJU uncle for crimes is larger then few aids already reported executed so purge is likely much larger.
