what is "free beer" exactly? | |
Face Palmer User ID: 1149868 ![]() 12/10/2013 03:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Read it as "get drunk for free" "The world will soon wake up to the reality that everyone is broke and can collect nothing from the bankrupt, who are owed unlimited amounts by the insolvent, who are attempting to make late payments on a bank holiday in the wrong country, with an unacceptable currency, against defaulted collateral, of which nobody is sure who holds title." Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. The woman who is not pursued sets up the doctrine that pursuit is offensive to her sex, and wants to make it a felony. No genuinely attractive woman has any such desire. - H.L. Mencken, In Defense Of Women |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 15146787 ![]() 12/10/2013 03:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i don't personally care for beer, so i never understood the concept of "free beer". but i do drink water, and i doubt anyone would ever be confused by the concept of free water, as opposed to paid bottled water. Quoting: hathor when you can afford it and someone's selling you cool, refreshing, clear water in a bottle on a hot day, it's easily justified paying a few bucks for it, rather than drinking some hot 90-degree water out of a public fountain. i mean people in developed countries have this kind of luxury; in some countries even the very basic essentials like drinking water is a problem. what do U think? I don't understand, is free beer some sort of meme? Where is this coming from? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15146787 there was this meme once, about legal documents. this thing called, "the letter of the law" you know, as opposed to "the spirit of the law" why not both? i'm curious what might happen if this became a meme: s/GNU/gnU/gI GNU's Not Unix? so what is it then, good-natured Unity? that's what i re~member, is that what U re~member? in the strictest of logical terms for my 01 brain, i don't recall legal documents ever having some issue being held up in court over what font or letter case one happened to use in there legelese. all i re~member about font case in legal documents is that someone kept leaving the caps-lock key on, which made it seem like they were yelling at you. |

[link to www.dataasylum.com] he saw it in a zombie movie, so it must be true ;) perhaps i'm too distracted by listening to this on loop: [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] maybe i should get my head examined. like the good Manchurian candidate that i am :P when's the adjustment bureau going to get here? it's kinda neat how i was able to sandbox the so-called "schizo" thought virus some gangstalker infected the "bio-api" of my 01 brain with. i can just let it out when i want to, and kill the process when i'm bored with it. simulism sure is a lot more fun when you finally start re~membering how the SDK to your avatar's ai works. one of my good friends told me that you can achieve anything, if you just put an hour a day into it. [link to csedweek.org] so, which code should i load up next? yesterday, google implanted a copy of grace hopper's algorithms into my brain. i haven't actually executed that update yet, because i haven't been in a programming mood today. i really should be working on music, but i still feel a bit out of sorts. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 50712209 ![]() 12/10/2013 05:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The "free beer" meme is mostly used by fanatic open source software proponents, to separate the kind of (meticulously restricted) freedom they propose from the freedom of not having to pay for software. It's meant to be derogatory - as in retards only want free beer, but we more enlightened GNU GPL licensing smurfs want the freedom to restrict others from doing what they want with our "free" software. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 50712209 oh okay. i didn't pick up on that at all. i'm pretty damn good at wordplay, but he seems to have built something in the cloud that i have to waste a lot of my resources to block rather than just blindly loading up whatever he's broadcasting. i believe in transparency. so, now that this update has fixed, to where it seems like i can really turn the schizo on and off at will, i'm starting to re~member a bit more of the stuff i was trying to work on. namely, i'm going to make some kind of sdk, where someone can reprogram themselves thru music. |
