Social network will analyze and then 'make sense' of shared content from photos to 'likes' Facebook will then be able to better target individuals New lab being set up at New York University specifically to study and improve 'Artificial Intelligence' systems So, when will they join team Google/Boston Dynamics for the ultimate killing/hunting machine???? Article here: [link to www.dailymail.co.uk] Not sure if they are going to create such machines but once the population is herded into mega cities the product from this R&D will be a great tool for TPTB. And people wonder why FB and the internet in general is free. Nothing is free. Do you really think Google shares are worth gold because of ad revenue? these companies are supported by...and techies are free to innovate without fear of not making any money. Maybe technology will one day make paper money obsolete? Sorry folks for the twilight zone thinking. all this is just my opinion. Happy Good times before and after 2013 (I hope) take care good people. |

Article here: [link to www.dailymail.co.uk] This is why I'll be distancing myself from Internet activities over the coming months. I dunno exactly what my life plan is going to be (work for the system, stay out of the way, work against it, blah blah whatever), but what I DO know is that I don't want friggin agencies stupidly deciphering my personality based on social media snippets. Good news is that it is likely they wouldn't see me as a threat. If anything, I'm looking forward to being asked for recruitment for something or other. ![]() |

OK, I get it... the "nerd" working there do it for the pleasure of creating these mind-boggling robots and make them as fancy beyond any possibilities...... but isn't there any point in time when they pause and THINK where this is heading eventually ???? How about such a system connected to ROBOTS just like in Avatar: Oh, btw, did you ever heard of "KURATAS" built in Japan? So, who still thinks that this is "just for fun" or that this is heading more and more towards SKYNET? IMHO, this thread should remain PINNED !!! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 18998741 ![]() 12/16/2013 11:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Google has acquired robotics engineering company Boston Dynamics, best known for its line of quadrupeds with funny gaits and often mind-blowing capabilities. Products that the firm has demonstrated in recent years include BigDog, a motorized robot that can handle ice and snow, the 29 mile-per-hour Cheetah, and an eerily convincing humanoid known as PETMAN. News of the deal was reported on Friday by The New York Times, which says that the Massachusetts-based company's role in future Google projects is currently unclear. Quoting: pray_Italy Specific details about the price and terms of the deal are currently unknown, though Google told the NYT that existing contracts — including a $10.8 million contract inked earlier this year with the US Defense Agency Research Projects Agency (DARPA) — would be honored. Despite the DARPA deal, Google says it doesn't plan to become a military contractor "on its own," according to the Times. Boston Dynamics began as a spinoff from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1992, and quickly started working on projects for the military. Besides BigDog, that includes Cheetah, an animal-like robot developed to run at high speeds, which was followed up by a more versatile model called WildCat. It's also worked on Atlas, a humanoid robot designed to work outdoors. In a tweet, Google's Andy Rubin — who formerly ran Google's Android division — said the "future is looking awesome."
