my personal experience is i have to tell almost everyone i meet i dont watch tv because that is all they talk about. i told a girl what i did one weekend and she said she was sooo jealous because all her and her man did was watch tv and movies. can you imagine, a fresh three feet of snow and you stay inside to watch an idiot box?

Also people who say they dont watch TV are likly consuming content from a news paper, tablet or lap top otherwise they wouldnt have any current news. So media can be consumed away from the TV.

The notion of not watching TV dosnt hold the same weight today as in the past. Today there are many alternative ways to consume media away from the TV.

Or all the flashing images, the sound level that keeps going up and down, ads every few minutes, documentaries when they just repeating themselves constantly, how they keep switching from one thing to another, background music while people are talking, etc
