Indian chef dips his bare hand in 200C boiling oil to pick fried fish.

When Prem Singh was asked to lend a helping hand frying fish at his family restaurant he took it rather too literally.

The chef, 65, has become famed in the backstreets of Old Delhi for his unique ability to plunge his bare hands into searing cooking oil.

He regularly dips his fingers into a bubbling vat of oil, which is heated up to 200C, to pluck out the fried fish.

You could stick your hand in some ice for a while and grab something fast out of hot oil.

This dude took the time to build resistance to the hot oil.

Even if that was the answer, it doesn't explain the lack of blisters and burned tissue.

tbh I'm not too amazed, I'm a chef (write that down data miners) and while I don't dip my fingers into the actual fryer your hands do become seriously immune to heat after a while, I regularly pick up stuff that has literally just come up from the oil... still coated in it.

But the top level of the oil is not as hot as you might think anyway and I notice his fingertips are well coated in batter.

It's a nice gimmick but not anything really amazing tbh.

Dude, there's no such thing as resistance to 200C boiling oil.

Even if somehow his nerves pain receptors are disconnected off his right arm, still doesn't explain the lack of burned tissue and blisters.

I worked as a lube tech (oil changer) for 5 years in my 20's.

Things that were scolding hot to my hands the first day were just warm to my hands a couple years in.

There has to be a trick to this. All humans are made from the same basic biological materials. The oil is hot enough to fry fish flesh, therefore it will do the same to human flesh. He must have some protective coating on his fingers. It is the only rational explanation.

I cook since I left my wife over 10 years ago, ANY drop of boiling oil in contact with human skin is enough to cause a blister and a small volume can cause high degree burns.

What altitude are they at I wonder? The higher the altitude the lower the boiling point due to lack of atmospheric pressure.

If you watch the video you see that his fingers are heavily coated in batter or whatever the orange crap is. This on top of building a tolerance to burning yourself is how he does it. Simple.

Don't why you bolded and doubt that, really happened.

I had a grease burn at my second job as a kid, picked a taco shell and turned tongs up. Hot grease pooled in my palm and ran down my arm. Silvadine cream dude, no scar.

Caught my leg on fire as a kid, third degree burns, fucking skin was black and cracked, silvadine cream, no scar and still have hair.

Playing in your home kitchen isn't working a kitchen. You should listen to people who know this really ain't no thing.

Coating doesn't stick to the skin after you dip into liquid, the most logical explanation is a possible pain-reception nerve damage and he didn't figure it out yet.

But then, that's India, the ultimate woo-woo land, so it wouldn't be a surprise if that chef has his body half in the 3rd dimension and half in the 5th.

I knew a woman who worked as a bagel maker when she was in college and she swears that after awhile, you just start plucking the bagels out of the boiling water and you build up a tolerance to it over time.

This is after I saw her pluck something out of a pot of boiling water while I was watching. I would never have believed it either had I not seen it.

This is not tolerance, maybe the brain somehow disconnects from the pain, but the skin doesn't develop any resistance.
