I knew a woman who worked as a bagel maker when she was in college and she swears that after awhile, you just start plucking the bagels out of the boiling water and you build up a tolerance to it over time.
This is after I saw her pluck something out of a pot of boiling water while I was watching. I would never have believed it either had I not seen it.

Fuck it, believe what you like, it makes no odds to me... but just realize that some of us know what we are talking about. ...and btw, cooking for yourself at home is NOT even remotely like working in a kitchen for a living, try spending 12 hours a day every day picking up stuff covered in boiling oil for a decade or so... then maybe you'll be in more of a position to comment on this subject. That's like comparing your commute to work to getaway driving, it's not even in the same galaxy dude. >.>
