Not hard, put hand and forearm in ice for a few, grab fast. Apply silvadine cream.

If you burn your finger just grab your ear lobe. The heat gets dissipitated by the tissue which absorbs all the heat and you can actually feel the warmth being transferred.

Just a tip I learnt from an uncle who learnt it from an east Indian professor.

tbh I'm not too amazed, I'm a chef (write that down data miners) and while I don't dip my fingers into the actual fryer your hands do become seriously immune to heat after a while, I regularly pick up stuff that has literally just come up from the oil... still coated in it.

But the top level of the oil is not as hot as you might think anyway and I notice his fingertips are well coated in batter.

It's a nice gimmick but not anything really amazing tbh.

If you watch the video you see that his fingers are heavily coated in batter or whatever the orange crap is. This on top of building a tolerance to burning yourself is how he does it. Simple.

The liquid is having air pumped in to make it bubble like it's boiling but it's not really that hot. You can't cheat basic physics.

Re: Indian chef dips his bare hand in 200C boiling oil to pick fried fish.
Its pretty clear the cold batter on his fingers insulates well enuf for the short dips in the oil. Lets all be honest.. he isn't dipping his hand in that oil, hes skimming the top (coldest place in the fryer) with batter on his finger.

Batter dip a French fry in a deep fryer similar to what he is doing, I bet the batter doesn't even set.

Not saying what he is doing isn't practiced and a bit risky, but its also no superhuman.

Maybe the oil isn't that hot and he uses an air bubbler.

I knew a woman who worked as a bagel maker when she was in college and she swears that after awhile, you just start plucking the bagels out of the boiling water and you build up a tolerance to it over time.

This is after I saw her pluck something out of a pot of boiling water while I was watching. I would never have believed it either had I not seen it.
 Quoting: tandym

This is not tolerance, maybe the brain somehow disconnects from the pain, but the skin doesn't develop any resistance.

It's very similar to the leidenfrost effect. He has batter on his hands every time, and only leaves his hands in there for a split second.. You can dip your hand in molten lead with just water with the same method.

There has to be a trick to this. All humans are made from the same basic biological materials. The oil is hot enough to fry fish flesh, therefore it will do the same to human flesh. He must have some protective coating on his fingers. It is the only rational explanation.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33509203

Coating doesn't stick to the skin after you dip into liquid, the most logical explanation is a possible pain-reception nerve damage and he didn't figure it out yet.

But then, that's India, the ultimate woo-woo land, so it wouldn't be a surprise if that chef has his body half in the 3rd dimension and half in the 5th.
