Sandy Hook: Why didn't anyone call 911 while 120 shots were fired? | |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 51689076 United States 12/17/2013 02:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Trying this again. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47123839 A superficial count of shots audible in the 911 calls is: approximately 34 shots. These shots are audible in Call 1, Call 3, and Call 7. With a total of 153 (or 154 depending on the story) shots fired, that would mean that school staff waited while approximately 120 shots were fired. Did no one call 911 during this time? The first 911 call is allegedly at 9:35 a.m. Only 34 shots are heard after that time, ending finally with the last audible shot at approximately 9:47 a.m. When were the first 120 shots fired, and wouldn't be expected that multiple 911 calls would be made at least, say, after the first 20 or 30? shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! no common sense allowed! |

Dudeashaneo User ID: 32909022 United States 12/17/2013 04:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Is the answer, for example, that the first shots were fired more rapidly than those being fired by the time the first 911 callers dialed? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47123839 Or that people WERE calling 911, all from cellphones, and these were not yet making it to Nute in Newtown? Even though I find this line of questioning ridiculous there is an aha moment here. How is it that we actually here the shots at all? There is a right answer I just want to see if you know what it is OP. Is there a chance we could get some honesty up in here? |

Even though I find this line of questioning ridiculous there is an aha moment here. How is it that we actually here the shots at all? There is a right answer I just want to see if you know what it is OP. Why is it ridiculous? 911 calls start up - and only 34 shots out of 154 are then fired? Isn't it at least logical to ask whether earlier calls were made? I've long thought earlier calls may have been made, and the relatively few gunshots audible on the 911 calls may be evidence in support of an earlier event. For all I know, they're firing blanks, or playing a tape recording of gunshots, or perhaps some of them aren't gunshots at all. The question "why didn't anyone call 911 while 120 shots were fired" isn't meant to prove 120 shots were fired; rather it's meant to generate possible answers such as: 1. 120 shots weren't fired 2. Two people were firing 120 shots in half the time it would have taken one shooter 3. Because there were only 50 total shots fired 4. Because none of this ever happened Etc. |

We hear the shots because for some of the time, Rick's cellphone is simplexing his side of the conversation (which of course hints at the possibility that many more shots were fired during his call, that we don't hear). That's one answer. As far as "why not just edit them out?" I really think Sedensky is willing to stick his neck out only so far. He was so spooked (or whatever) of the 911 call issue that he tried to claim for ages that he had never listened to them. THAT caught my attention. If he claims he didn't listen to them, he can't be subpoenaed to testify to what he heard in calls that are now...missing. |

I found that curious, too. The officers clearly heard it, and someone in dispatch even said, "Is that the shooter?" By the last shot at 9:47 though, he seems to disappear altogether. Makes me wonder if he dropped the phone or set it down. |

Dudeashaneo User ID: 32909022 United States 12/17/2013 07:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My understanding is that FEMA took over for local communications for a 5 hour period, during which it was not possible to call local or state copz. All calls were routed through a FEMA communication hub. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16120607 Can you expand on that or provide some sort of evidence for that? That is intriguing. Is there a chance we could get some honesty up in here? |

State Police, Newtown Police, State Medical Examiner, and the families of the supposed victims, among others, are all bald-faced liars. That's why it matters, sonny. Of course they are. but nobody will be able to cuff them, that's the only problem |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 47123839 United States 12/17/2013 07:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They've told him there's shooting - I don't think he needs to stop and say "oh my god more shooting," I think he is just trying to keep everyone calm. He's also turning his attention away from Rick repeatedly. You could ck the police audio and see if Nute's doing other things on-air at the time of the shots, I suppose. When I get home to my regular computer I'll look at the timeline, or maybe someone else will beat me to it. But right after Pisani's call I believe Nute starts getting ambulances to Sandy Hook Center. |

I've always thought the shooting may have been in Vollmer's hallway, not at the front of the school. Or at least, a lot of the shooting. Possibly at the back of the school as well. But the original reports all stressed "kindergarten," and that's Vollmer's hallway. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 47123839 United States 12/18/2013 03:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yikes - I think I know why in Roig(?)'s call, she said she was calling from "Newtown, Connecticut." She had, possibly, already called 911 on a cellphone, and since that would (if she got through) get her to a regional dispatch center, they would naturally ask, "And what city are you calling from?" or something along those lines. She may have gotten disconnected (otherwise why would the call end), or perhaps she herself hung up; perhaps that regional dispatcher, or someone in her room, told her to try the landline? Then when she calls a second time, this time from a landline, she automatically gives out the city and state again. I think giving the state would have just been an overcorrection from being told to give the city. Or, she could just be new to the area, but comes from a city where dispatch is regional and she would be used to the concept of having to give out the city. But I'm betting it's because she's already called 911 on a cellphone, been asked for her city, and then for some reason called 911 again from a landline. |
