They are not being paranoid. Actually THERE IS a problem with the draining system inside the astronauts suits, and Luca Parmitano literally drowned during a EVA and almost died.
IMO they shouldn't send other astronauts out in an EVA to fix the pump, without having fixed the suit leaking issue.
The Soyuz carrier rocket can now dock with the ISS in less than 24 hrs, why they didn't request new suits before going out for this EVA??

Could be the environment is polluted with micro-dust particles traveling high speeds. Could be the suits are getting swiss cheesed out there with no protection. There seems to be a lot of meteors recently. Could reasonably imply there is a lot of dust up there too. A theory Did you even watch the video with Parmitano drowning during the EVA???
