about this prison that we call 'reality'. Is seeing people in pain, of any description. This time of the year is particularly hard on people, especially those who do not have family or friends that can be around them. Especially when everywhere you look or hear the media in every form, is shouting out how this is a time for family and friends - a time to spend all your money and put yourself in debt, because you should - after all it is Christmas! Christmas can be a particularly hard and sad time for them. It exacerbates their feelings of loneliness, or their struggles with their health, or their loss of loved ones. So my heart goes out to them all the more at this time when they are acutely aware of what they do not have in their lives. Much love to you all  I read someplace that from just before Thanksgiving until just after New Years there is an increase in deaths especially in elderly people. Not sure if its true but maybe they just feel like they have no reason to live any longer.Loneliness is so much worse during holiday times. yes it is. Especially hard on the elderly, but it is hard on anyone in those situations. As a nurse we saw an increase in the number of illnesses amongst those who lived by themselves without any social support network around them. It is heartbreaking.
