I am OK for now and have back up for heat and cooking. Lots of inventory on hand. Others may not be so lucky. This happened a few years ago and brought down transmission lines because of the weight of ice on them.

Reminds me of a book I once read : The Coming Global Superstorm
by Art Bell (of Coast to Coast fame) and Whitney Streiber (Communion Guy).

The movie The Day after Tomorrow was based on the book.

I remember it being a reasonable explanation for the findings of ice age mammoths flash frozen with intact plants in their stomaches and other inexplicable findings contrary to the current scientific paradigms.

The scenario began with "global warming" affecting the usual oceanic currents by affecting the temperature and salinity of the currents, especially the Gulf Stream. It basically would quickly put much of the US and northern Europe under snow and ice. One terrible Winter leading to the next, without the usual Summer melts and warming. Bummer.

As far as I know, without using the all-mighty Google, if an area has snow or ice on it by natural means, then it is considered to be in an ice age.

A slight tilt of the Earth, pole reversal, sun cooling etc may cause it and it would happen quickly.

I measure it by the number of times that I snowblow. 4 times in 2 days is a lot. That fucking ice is the doom. I have a friend down on the coast that is without power and will be for a while yet.

We finally got our power again this morning. My parents who live a rural area have had no water or power since Friday night. We are hoping by Christmas they will have it.

A lot of trees down, really sad to see.

Friends in Toronto are told they will not have power until Christmas Day. The power is so random here. My step sister who lives not even 2 minutes away is still with out power. With the winds they are calling for and snow now, I am sure we will have more power outages before the week is over.
