It's not something every woman experiences. For instance, neither I or my mother or sisters ever felt discomfort during monthly periods. Never understood the need for Midol.

Good way to aleviate these symptoms.

take 4-8 corral calcium tablets a day with 4 grams of vitamine C (at the same time. You might want to divy this up to 3 doses spread throughout the day.

Get some cod liver oil tablets (vit D) and get some sunshine on bare skin too.

Do this every day and you should see most PMS symptoms alieviate alot.

As one of the Dude persuasion, I have always noticed that when you get a group of women all together talking, the sounds that result are nearly identical to the noise of a large group of hens all cackling at the same time. Seriusly, when your with your girls busting loose sometime, check it out. It's freaky.

My opinion is . . . because new life must be put together with new life. What is old can not possibly begat what is new. You are shedding the lining of your uterus during your period, that the egg will have something "new" to attach to as it comes down.

I don't know that God "wants" us to feel pain. However, I know that pain is a gift. It tells us something is happening. Basically, your uterus is contracting to get that old tissue that is "non-productive" out. That's a GOOD thing. If it stayed in, it would infect you.

And I, as one of the dudette persuasion, have always observed that when men all get together talking, they are talking about women, crass joking mostly about bodily functions or what they would like to DO to women, or arguing about sports. The sounds encompass a lot of burping, scratching, or worse bodily functions. Oh - yeah. Can't forget the blank stares on their faces.

My pain is one day of every month at the start and then it's a smooth sail after. I would sleep for 16 hours or more after that.

I take a vitamin supplement and eat plenty of seafood and drink milk and eat yogurt daily plus I've been in the sun at least one hour plus daily. I'm rather religious in my daily routine.

I'm no where near menopausal dammit.

Even the guys that are bean counters from good colleges and in better positions blow ass when in the collective and then break out in a group laugh about the level of smell. It's as if they are at spring break when they get together.

Not all women have the same level of pain and discomfort. Some have no pain at all.

There are some things to consider when trying to alleviate the intensity.

I also have very intense times but now going into menopausal mode creates another set of problems as well. I am trying to visualize a caterpillar in its crysalis and one day when I emerge I will have beautiful wings-at least I try and visualize it-as I feel like a volcano

General stress can worsen menses pain. If one exercises it helps lessen the pain overall. If one is not obese or anorexic in their health habits it helps. Additionaly, one should avoid caffeine to extreme as it adds to discomfort-especially in the 10 days preceding the start of cycle. Consuming white flower and overly processed food seems to increase the discomfort.

If one takes Vitamin E it seems to help the menses, as well as, the cystic breasts or breast pain with menses. Black Cohosh is good and there are several other herbs for healthy female function. A great Cal-Mag combo would be helpful-less spasms and less cramps.

If one has a history of PID(pelvic inflammatory disease) or a history of fibroids on the ovaries-the mense pain will likely be worst. If one had an immune compromised type disease like fibromyalgia or MS or a host of other ones they may have greater pain issues as well. If one has endometriosis there is a higher level of discomfort also. If one has no diagnosis of endometriosis but has a family history-maternal line then one likely could have same. The flow rate being very heavy and large clotting with pain ranging to incapacitating could be a flag of this condition.

If one has an ectopic pregancy they could still be menstruating and higher levels of pain as well.

These are a few things to consider.

The cold compress can help or my preference - moist heat. Drink lots of good water-necessary to clear the body easier.

I would also mention that physical activity, varying types, can frequently help.
