Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49342957 Well that is bollocks too, do you have any idea how much rain we had a few weeks ago? There were floods across the islands and over 60mm or rain per square meter, per hour. It was record breaking amounts of rainfall for the Canaries. We had 3 days of it, undrivable motorways (with the bridges becoming waterfalls)... We are not children of celestial fuckin' light, walkin' arm-in-arm into the Age of Aquarius. We are wankers who wreck the planet an' piss on each other, 'til half the world's starvin' an' the other half's busy findin' new ways to keep from noticin' it. That's the fuckin' limit've our potential, believe me. :jcbanner: |

Hopefully, it's just some pressure releasing fairly evenly instead of one big one. Quoting: Fret Wiz Thanks, will watch this. Everyone on the East Coast really should keep an eye out right now. Thank you FW! Your concern for the people who live on Canary Islands is so praiseworthy I am at a loss for words. 1 John 1–3._ 1Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. @Starknight921 |

I didn't read it fully, but it was saying new studies showed it wouldn't be as catastrophic as once predicted. Quoting: Tangy I can't find it now. :( There were a few as of this morning.....I commented on them...but they were deleted? |

You should write an email to Doug Mason, and maybe he can link you to detailed information and recent studies, and maybe share his insight on the situation with you. I am sure he wouldn't mind answering questions. He has been studying canary island landslides for 20 years. Or maybe some of his studies can be found online via Southampton University's oceanography centre. [link to noc.ac.uk (secure)] Also research where the original information comes from. Ward/Day/McGuire. Who funded their research. What models were used. Who else has made hypothesis. This is not a scientific site. But may have some jumping off topics to explore/research. Interesting at the very least. [link to www.lapalma-tsunami.com] This animation shows 10 meters hitting east coast. [link to www.theguardian.com] |

The Canary island folks live by choice in a place that has many known dangers. A thousand times two miles away, people may require some warning. thanks to all who provide that warning.
