The only way to correct it is to add phenyl alkalid triphosphate to the water in question. Using UV-filtered liquid oxygenated bio matter, the kind that is not expired works best, lightly spray the water with a fine mist. Problem solved. Good luck. |

The city puts a truck on it and sells tickets betting on when it will fall through the ice. So, it freezes solid... Quoting: ladulce However, this year... The ice rink at Traxler park in Janesville has city crews and neighbors confused -- it hasn't frozen all season. "When we're looking at it we don't know why it's not frozen," Paul Steinbauer said. Steinbauer works at Fastenal Hardware just across from the rink. He said usually, they can see 10 to 15 skaters on the ice from inside their store. Steinbauer said the not-so-icy rink didn't freeze during the last cold spell when temperatures dropped well below zero. "The whole cold week it didn't freeze and that's not normal for here," Steinbauer said. per: [link to rock.channel3000.com] Any ideas why? I'm from south of you, Loves Park, IL. We use to skate across from our house, so I know what you mean. It gets cold it freezes fast. I'm in TN now, water has been freezing here, so it's strange it's not there. The rink isn't bigger than normal? We've had tons of rain here and a lot more water in places which makes the water move more. Of course a lot of our water here wouldn't freeze solid, more water or not. |

I just found this odd, and, even more odd the newspaper quoting everyone as basically having no idea why it isn't freezing. As long as it isn't fuku-water, I guess we are all good, right? |

Windsage User ID: 40955476 ![]() 12/23/2013 10:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Has anyone taken the temperature of the water? If it's BELOW 32F and still not frozen, you've got a whole different problem than if it is just not cold enough. Have they taken water samples for testing? Maybe someone has dumped a bunch of barrels of toxic something in there, people actually do that shit. Have you noticed any fish die offs or waterfowl problems? Is the water smelly or does it have an odd color? If the water is just not down to below 32F, there might be a geo-thermal event where the ground underneath has warmed up like at Yellowstone. Anyway, measure the temperature and that will at least be a start. |

I walk around there fairly often, but, haven't been for the last several months and didn't notice any die-offs or anything odd over the summer/fall, but, we will go see if we find anything strange tomorrow. It will be a Glp inspired Christmas eve- hell yeah! |

Should freeze right up. Less salt initially, and a larger volume to dilute any remaining salt. Oh and make sure they empty the radiators next time. |

Especially with all the earth booms in Wisconsin - geothermal warmth under the pond? my own first thought was some kind of oil or other substance to act as antifreeze. we only have each other. Long Island. Today, 2 days before Christmas, a caterpillar by the back door. Last week I walked out the back door into a spider spinning a web over the stoop. First week of December, a cricket chirping. We still have robins, who usually migrate out-a-here. We've had a couple of minor snow events already, yet still insects? Weird indeed. |
