Police MRAPs: Salina's California Gets New MRAP
Seems for christmas the Salinas CA Police Department was gifted a shiny MRAP fresh from the military and its service in the Middle East.

"Police in Salinas, California are under fire after the department acquired a heavily armored military vehicle for SWAT team operations.

The $650,000 vehicle was gifted to the Salinas Police Department from the government through the 1033 program, which redistributes used equipment to other agencies. According to KSBW, the truck was used in Iraq and Afghanistan.

According to numerous outlets, police stated their SWAT team was in desperate need of a new vehicle. KSBW added that the new truck, built to withstand rifle fire and minefield explosions, has already aided officers looking to arrest a dangerous suspect. The individual was apparently spotted via the vehicle’s high observation deck."

Many Police say these vehicles help protect the lives of themselves and citizens in SWAT type situations yet they do not see how this looks to the public!

I'm about as pro-law enforcement as they come, but the divide on this is damn scary. It blows my mind how the average joe cop can look at that and not understand how that looks to the public like anything other than a weapon for WAR!

If you think this is for law enforcement purposes than you're naive. The government is militarizing the police for use in war against the American people. There is zero need for a police department to have an MRAP which is impervious to everything except anti tank munitions.

I'm afraid a tyrannical government is imminent, and our chances as a free people are only getting worse as time goes on. If we a revolution is to succeed it has to happen soon, before this government completes more of their new "wonder" weapons that will make them unstoppable. Directed energy weapons in all forms and sizes and effects will make resistance almost impossible to a resistance armed only with ballistic weapons.

Can you imagine trying to fight but getting permanently blinded by a laser that can cover a full kilometer at a time, disoriented by microwaves until you're curled up on the ground and puking on yourself, then having a hellfire dropped on your position courtesy of a drone? The technology gap is growing too fast, we're not going to stand much of a chance in a couple of years if they get all these things operational.

I think its already to late. There is so much more in existence that the public isnt even aware of..
Just from the link above..

3. The Active Denial System
A weapon that causes people to feel like their skin is burning without causing any actual damage sounds like a good way to disperse groups of rioters or enemy combatants on the battlefield without killing anyone, but the system, which fires a one-millimeter wave of radiation, is not so reliable.

5. Taser Shockwave
This portable device is capable of electrocuting dozens of people at a time when deployed correctly and is primarily used to disperse mobs.

6. This unnamed device fires radio frequencies that make people feel sick. It disrupts human hearing and equilibrium by interrupting the part of the brain that processes sounds and position (relative to gravity).

Santa Paula, CA PD has had an APC tank-looking thing for months. They were nice enough to stencil "rescue" on the side of it to make it look legit. I'll see if I can post a pic later.

Re: Police MRAPs: Salina's California Gets New MRAP
One of these pulled up in front of my small business in a strip mall in So Cal recently. Kinda shocked me to see it right there in front of me. I walked closer to getter a better view with a co-worker while the 2 guys driving it walked past us to the diner in our parking lot. They stopped and watched us walk closer, and I have to say, I was intimidated. We took a quick look and scurried back to our shop.

Point being- "Now available in a city near you!"

The problem is if we scream that they'd say "we used it in the war, and we found a new use for it." My question is, why the hell isn't it still in the MILITARY?!

Don't worry, I know why...

In Surprise az, the police bought one a few years ago. It was a huge deal. For nothing but a photo-op for the mayor.

The vehicle has sat, since they bought it, in a pool of it's own oil and other fluids. It won't even start, much less run.

ALL of the city officials had their pictures taken with it and posted in the local paper.

Two of the neighboring towns have them (they never used theirs, either) and they were both available for use by the Surprise PD. This is a retirement community. Why does the PD need 50 cal machine guns, a canon and battering ram that injects poison gas out the end? They've never needed one before!

And there it sits. A 1/2 million dollar paperweight.

That makes sense. But it does not run! I swear it's sitting in a pool of it's own oil right now and has for over three years. Nobody knows how to work on or operate them here. And we're right next to Luke AFB too.
