'World could be plunged into crisis in 2014': Cambridge expert predicts 'a great event' will determine course of the century
From June 2010

A 'Doomsday' moment will take place in 2014 - and will determine whether the 21st century is full of violence and poverty or will be peaceful and prosperous, according to a Cambridge University professor.

In the last 500 years there has been a cataclysmic 'Great Event' of international significance at the start of each century, he claims.

Occurring in the middle of the second decade of each century, they include events which sparked wars, religious conflict and brought peace.

Professor Nicholas Boyle of Cambridge University, who carried out the research, has pinpointed the global financial crisis as the trigger for the next 'Great Event'.

And he claims the U.S., with its waning economic influence but unrivaled military power, holds the key to determining the course and character of the next 90 years

Professor Boyle said: 'The character of a century becomes very apparent in that second decade, so why should ours be any different?

The U.S., he said, will become the key player in a series of make-or-break decisions and either condemn us to a century of violence and poverty, or usher in a new age of global co-operation. (Oh Great - With Obama as POTUS)

It's the 100th anniversary of World War I.

Certainly not an unimportant date for the Illuminati...

Nicholas Boyle was elected to the Schröder Professorship* of German in 2006. Before that he was Professor of German Literary and Intellectual History, and he has taught German in Cambridge since he was a student. He has a particular interest in German literature and thought of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and especially in Goethe, and in the relation between religion and literature. He has so far published two volumes of his prizewinning biography, Goethe: the Poet and the Age and is currently working on the third and (he hopes) last.

Yep, I read that back in 2010 and did a little research and certainly think he is not only onto something but it really does go to prove arguments that we follow cycles..

And with Obama in the hot seat... well, it is rather worrisome...

OK...I'll throw my $0.02 in.

Predicting doom or prosperity based solely on the calendar does not support the evidence. Cycles are based on frequency regardless of the dates. What of the centuries previous to the last 5?

From the little I know, the booms were all brought on by some technological breakthrough that increased productivity and , thus, prosperity. The bust, by the overshoot of the previous boom.

That being said, the Cambridge prof could hit the mark anyway. As the world becomes relatively smaller and our economies further entwined, the central banks, in an effort to stimulate growth absent any real productivity increases, are keeping interest rates down and flooding money into the system. This money, received by the banks at those low rates, are put somewhere to make more return than the cost of the money. The markets.

The markets and other tangible assets are now overvalued and the correction will come. And when it does, this global economy will feel the pain.

The EU is (still) hanging on by the good will of the Germans and the central bank buying the bad debts of floundering and overleveraged countries.

All it will take is some -event-. What the event is could be anyone's guess. Just be ready.

cheers

Hopefully not for long.

Perhaps this 2014 cycle will be great and include an impeachment of sorts.

Wouldn't that be a nice beginning to the upcoming century?

This is happening right now with the US in the hot seat of the worlds financial breakdown. We have the worst govt. of the history of the US in power and sinking this ship even faster than anyone thought possible.
I still take stock in the prediction that this would happen, but before it is too late someone will take charge and lead not only the US, but the rest of the world by extension, bact to world wide prosperity and true peace.
Swords, both verbal and physical, will be turned to plows for a better future.

Pffftttt......right....

The financial ups and downs do not know emotion and are not influenced by it. The men (and women) at the head of the ship need knowledge, not some sort of empathy.

The trouble is whomever is in control is in charge of a crashing train and the only decision is how best to go about it.

Sometimes, when Bernanke was speaking, I thought I could see the fear in his eyes flash for a second. Sort of like he knows there is no way out, only a way to extend the ride, but extending is doing to increase the final damage. What does one do?

Now we have Yellen....

Going by the previous cycles it would appear a conflict in Europe is coming.

1714/15 saw the end of the war of Spanish Succession which broke the military power that the Sun King had built up.

Not surprising as so many of these crises are engineered by the elite - of course they do the timing as well.

Just can't see the peaceful and stress-less event happening here in the states.

Decisions to avoid impending disasters regarding economy are not being made thoughtfully here in the US.

Those decisions are being made with self focus or greed which will affect all. We are becoming a nation of two classes very quickly. It's a shame.

But what if your child is the John Connor of 2050?

I know my kids are prepared, or are getting that way. They don't realize it, but they are being taught to be independent, resourceful, and of strong mental fortitude. Teach your kids to thrive no matter what and you won't need to be so concerned.

My oldest, a girl by the way, before her first date, can start a fire without a match, skin a raccoon and dress a deer, bake a cake, find her way on a map, measure by pace, purify water, snare a rabbit, saddle (and train) a horse, use a telescope, unabashedly debate, shoot a gun & bow, save, and, of course, read, write, and divide fractions.

I am as proud as I am humbled. Great kid. (but I digress)

Anyway, kids are absolutely awesome. Don't let your fear of the future keep you from enjoying the fruits of parenthood. It is truly awesome. And the future will need good people in it.

I think you must be forgetting the booms brought on by global warming such as the Roman warming or the medieval warming when increased food production, population growth and other pluses brought booms as a result of the warming. Since the real agenda of the IPCC is increasing taxes and global control they don't even mention the possibility of positive results of global warming if it should happen.

The US is now an "Inverted Totalitarian System."
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

It's a term coined by political philosopher Sheldon Wolin

"inverted totalitarianism is described as a system where corporations have corrupted and subverted democracy and where economics trumps politics. In inverted totalitarianism, every natural resource and every living being is commodified and exploited to collapse and the citizenry are lulled and manipulated into surrendering their liberties and their participation in their government by excess consumerism and sensationalism."

A Stooge Bitch out of Illuminati Central, aka Cambridge, is about the last place I'd go looking for guidance.

Nevertheless, you don't have to be Clinton Jefferson Rockefeller to see where this going.

What kind of dumb bitch believes compulsory payments to insurance corporations feeding off suffering people is a good idea?

Compulsory anything is completely anti-liberty and totalitarin.
