California Hospital Dictates Limits to Hope and Prayer

It's good to see sanity returning to hospitals.

Prayer has no effect. Prayer is a theological black hole and there's no empirical evidence to prove that it works.

Here's the good news Bible-Tards: Prayer has no effect! That means you can stop mumbling your platitudes and actually do something productive; for example, donating to cancer research or helping families with their medical bills.

Prayer is mental-masturbation from weak-willed people too lazy to do anything useful or meaningful with their lives.

It surely seems to have quite an effect on you, at least. Even just mentioning the prayer got your adrenalin pumping. Imagine what the real thing will do to you some day, once you mature a bit from the public school indoctrination.

Although your teachers may have not brought that to your attention, the medical research officially recognizes and appreciates greatly the power of beliefs to beneficially affect healing. For example, any new drug must be tested in placebo controlled manner -- one half of test subjects receives real drug, the other receives placebo. Both groups will improve and the effectiveness of the drug is judged relative to placebo, not to improvement itself.

If the patient's beliefs had no beneficial effect on healing, there would be no reason to more than double the costs and efforts for the drug trials.

I'm not a bible-tard and I believe in the power of prayer.

All prayers are answered, just maybe not the way we want.

It certainly doesn't hurt to pray so why not?

Your poor grasp of double-blind and pharmacological testing is,quick frankly, astounding. A placebo does not require faith in a deity to work, and your poor attempt to link the two,is most probably due to your lack of ability to apply critical thinking skills.

Please, in future, try to construct a more coherent and logical, argument. It is what your mythical GAWD would want.

I am actually a scientist (theoretical physicist, working as chief scientist in industry, presently on optimization of large Data Center switching networks, which is math related to some physics problems) and have never read, let alone studied, Bible.



You need to read more carefully before responding since I never said anything about "belief in deity" but only wrote about general "belief" (in healing).

You also need to re-read your post(s).For a scientist, your syntax, sentence structure and above all,your comprehension skills, are sadly lacking.

As to you post and your desperate attempt to try and emote an emotional response,I respond thusly:

God does not exist.Just a sad and desperate need, from emotionally immature people, to abdicate responsibility for their life, to an invisible 'cloud-faerie.'

That wasn't about self-aggrandizement, but merely to correct your wrong guess about it. You didn't need to provide anything about your background since I wasn't arguing ad hominem and making guesses about (lack of) your qualifications.



Try writing something in your fifth language learned at age 20, as I am doing when writing in English, and see how the native speakers evaluate it.

You must try harder to find some proof; but I suppose your desire to find proof,any proof, no matter how false,overrides your desire for the real truth.
