Why does the USPS suck so bad?

I mean really. You would sometimes thing bringing mail by horse and carriage would be faster than whatever means of transportation that USPS is currently operating. I rarely rant about anything. And I never liked the USPS but the one time I need something in a timely manner, it takes what seems like forever.

Reasonably speaking, how long should a package take to travel the 1500 ought miles from Dallas Texas to upstate New York. Granted it was mailed on the 31st. Yeah I know people will argue that there was a holiday, and a sunday, but the fact is this. Even though the mail does not do residential or business deliveries on sundays or holidays, the USPS is still operating, transporting, sorting, moving mail through the system---just not to your door. So now it's bee 6 days since a package was shipped and I still do not have it. Am I being unreasonable expecting to have it be now? Curious as to what others think.
