Sandy Hook: Newtown schools getting another federal grant - $1.9 million
I just can't help but wince thinking of the parents in Chicago and Detroit and LA reading this stuff. Parents whose kids have died do to gun (and other) violence, and to this day no one even knows their names.

"The U.S. Department of Education announced Monday that it is awarding an additional $1.9 million to Newtown Public School District to help with ongoing recovery efforts following the tragic shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012...Newtown received its first Project SERV award—a $1.3 million grant—in May 2013. The $1.9 million grant will continue to support the school district as it strives to restore a safe and healthy environment for teaching and learning in its schools."

Newtown has already received millions in grants from private donors, General Electric, and a $50,000,000 grant from the state.

I'm sorry, but this is just ridiculous. How can the government send so much money to this incredibly rich town, while other kids die in silence, and not a penny is sent to their own schools--schools which are many, many times more likely to see additional deaths from gun violence in the coming months?

How can people not see how incredibly imbalanced this is??

I do not begrudge the people of Newtown one cent for the private donations they have received, and I only wish generous donors would also consider donating money to poorer, more violent school districts. It's okay to give, even if the recipient is already wealthy.

But how on earth can the federal government justify the outlandish inequity of donating more millions to a town already awash in gifts, when babies are being shot in the streets of Chicago?

Good find!
Strive to restore? What strive. Why idiots cannot see things for what they truly are I will never understand.

Also, you see how grimy that school was? How did it pass inspections.

I think we get it now. The bizareness of no lawsuits is that all "damaged" parties (i.e., those who pawned their dignity, humanity, patriotism and self-respect) will be paid off based according to their level of involvement in the hoax over the course of time. There's probably a time cap and a bailout if necessary.

The "parents" and significant-others ("aggrieved") likely get compensated first. The others get the scraps, 15 or 20 grand here or there for the white trash clowns who were sworn in and had the opportunity to feel important as part of a government secret.
