SOHO's been offline for 16+ hours many, many, many times. It's nothing unusual. 73P is not tracked by SOHO anyways, it's tracked by many thousands of obsevatories both private/amateur and professional all around the world. |

A flash usually occurs just before a solar storm comes this way. Imagine that. Cause-and-effect. Let's check space weather. Bingo. Disturbed. [link to www.windows.ucar.edu] |

no caps needed User ID: 102747 ![]() 06/06/2006 02:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You know OP, I've been watching SOHO for a few years myself, and I've seen this happen too many times to bother counting. The camera malfunctions, it shuts down for awhile and then it comes back. Same images precede it, either overexposed and/or underexposed areas, partially blocked by the arm or disc. I'd say all things considered, they do a good job of bringing those images into your home from a satellite halfway to the Sun. Screeching about a random glitch like this is just silly. Especially when it looks identical to SO many others - even though you apparently missed them all - you're just trying to stir up a reaction from the people who are unfamiliar with SOHO. |

I wonder if there is any connection. May 31 [link to groups.msn.com] June 1 [link to groups.msn.com] June 5 [link to groups.msn.com] It's not midnight yet here on the west coast, so still the 5th. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 102747 ![]() 06/06/2006 03:02 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yass, did you know that digital images are sent in little squares? Little squares of information that - when connected correctly - form a complete picture. When one of those little squares of data gets lost on its one million mile transmission back to Earth, it shows up as a blank square. But you can pretend it's a Borg Ship if you want. |
