Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 52581236 United Kingdom 01/07/2014 05:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | had mine for a while. best toy of this moment and compared to what a playstation cost when it just came out this is wayyy more revolutionising. Quoting: T-Man half life 2 looks AMAZING and that game is what, 8 years old? just wait for 4k VR goggles with full competability for next gen consoles. people will wish they wouldnt have a job :P No word on what the resolution of this thing is, but rumours are abound its not the latest ones they have, its a model behind at least. They did have a few 1080p ones at tradeshows last year, and whilst this might not be any higher res, it is a different screen tech. The positional tech is also new. Cant see the consumer version being anything close to 4k though you can get 4k screens for 500 dollars now. Hardly anybody has the GPU to drive 4k at 120hz though. |

Not to mention the lack of positional tracking. |
T-Man Entitled title User ID: 29080459 Netherlands 01/07/2014 05:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | they are 2 screens. you dont need a computer to watch tv on your tv right? its 2 screens. no mather how big their resolution is. the computer only limits what games you can play while using it. the hardest thing proceswise about the oculus is the gyro controller. wich is also in most modern phones. so that tells you how much cpu that uses... its limited at this point well because its somewhat of a prototype and to keep it userfriendly cheap they cant use full hd right now. but expact to get different versions of this product in the future... this is gonna rock so much!! you have no idea this makes you laugh at those 3d goggles you get with todays tvs... |

It isnt two screens, Its one screen split into two rendered images which your eyes and brain form into one three dimensional image like your eyes would normally see... you would know that if you had the dev kit like you implied. The censors are nothing to do with the cpu load, they are for axis tracking in reltaive 3d space. Yes the resolution matters because its a 5 inch screen 1 inch from your face with two big ass focused to infinity lenses in front. |

Quoting: T-Man they are 2 screens. you dont need a computer to watch tv on your tv right? What the hell are you even talking about. This device is a head tracking VR Display unit. It creates VR by using a small screen to render two separate 3d images, one for each eye, which are focused to infinity via two lenses, tricking your eyes into essentially making you think you are looking into a virtual world. Of course you need a computer with it, you send your video output to it via HDMI etc. |

Quoting: T-Man Its one screen. The resolution is super important and is nothing to do with the computer. The resolution is important because when you have a screen 1 inch from your eyeball you can see the pixels when the screen is even as high as 720p To play games on it you will need a minimum of 60fps, driving modern games at 1080p with high res textures and such at 60fps generally takes a mid range GPU. |
