Quoting: Patrick Bateman True for some, but I believe everything is relative, so it will not hold true for all, just my opinion though. Definitely will not hold true in multiverse, etc.. Some at best. Thanks for sharing! Your reason to find doorways interesting, might lead you to the doors singer Morison's sad demise, that is why people are afraid to figure out stuff, it can be dangerous to experiment with thoughts, as Jesus said there are wicked things in high places just as there is good Oh definitely for some, I agree. Especially when they realize the true irony of existence and cannot handle it. That is one of the reasons I like Camus so much. When most fully grasp what is known and what can be understood, the irony of the lack of meaning scares them, but he looks at it completely different and sees the ironic meaningless as a reason to live your life. |

Everyone is on their own journey to spiritual growth all you have to do is not fuck anyone else's journey up and even help others through theirs if needed. The goal is spiritual growth through the acquisition of knowledge. Knowledge which is gained by using your brain and soul together through contemplation of past, present and future. Sort of like a parent teacher conference with god. It seems that the longer you're alive the cherished moments of your past seem more and more brief. This is probably why people are so depressed when they think of the past too much and those who think to the future are optimistic. That said, life is a absolutely the greatest amusement park conceived. Buckle up and enjoy the rides, just don't be a bad customer! I really liked your post. Remembering the good experiences of the past does the opposite of depress me; thinking of the future does. One thing I have learned, and this happened after my dad was diagnosed with a progressive disease, is to live in the now. Worrying/thinking about the future, serves no purpose for me. Quoting: Patrick Bateman You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life." - Albert Camus Quoting: Patrick Bateman Lol, telling me to take his advice that I give everyone else everyday? It is just fun to discuss, if you can find the right people ;hf: "You will never be funny if you are looking for the meaning of being funny." Anonymous Coward I offer this corollary of Camus's dictum with the intention of undermining its 'neat' persuasiveness, perhaps because on some level I take it as a kind of rebuke, a charge that all the hours I have spent in reflecting on life, through direct experience, and through art , history and literature, have been somehow wasted. But surely the discovery of meaning, the internally and externally developng awareness of the truths of life is the essential joy of consciousness? For me, Camus's characters have their balls caught in the vice of negativity. His conception of the Heroic is having the strength to live without joy. I suggest that the human capacity to learn is based on the inwardly pleasurably digestible 'carrot' of good humour that can lead us forward to bear 'the sticks and burdens' of life, in other words, that the pleasure experienced directly within the mind and body as a result of making new/unexpected connections between concepts makes learning and adaptation to an ever wider environment it's own reward. For some reason, I now want to search for Max Wall and Tommy Cooper on Ytube. How were they so funny without trying? |

Quoting: AnonymousGirl I think people have different perceptions of what "live like gods" means. I would never consider anyone in politics, for example, living like a god. I don't envy those people at all. I'd rather be able to face myself in the mirror every day. As twisted as things seem to be, I do believe everything evens out in the end. They may be seem to have it all, but they don't. Not by a long shot. I would never consider anyone in politics even close to living like a god, but their puppet masters, some I would. One family for example controls well over half of the wealth and money in the entire world. over 50 trillion dollars. Cameras have only been on a couple of their many many mansions. The tech that exists that we get, they do not even use any more. Well not all, but some. They may not have it all, but compared to anyone here, they do, by a long shot. Also I do not believe everything evens out at all. look at the poor children born and rape as infants, murdered, genocide, etc in places like the congo. Then the very small amount who have things we will never even know of. I wish it evened out, but life is not fair by any means, unfortunately. What is "all" to you? Having no morals, lying, stealing...that's not having it all to me. Sorry, but I believe I have far more than they do. :) You don't have to agree with me, Patrick. These are my beliefs. My "evens out" was in reference to the people you think are "living like gods." No need to apologize but no, absolutely not. I said all physically, which you must have missed. And no, I disagree, but once more, that is awesome! You repeated a lot of what I said to you in the previous post to you, which is funny, but good thoughts! Thanks for sharing! This screamed patronizing to me. Maybe I'm just cranky. |

You said the same things to me I did to you, almost word for word :) Nothing condescending or patronizing about it, sorry you feel that way, I am not allowing posts like that in this thread. |
