Cut up the sausage into small pieces. Brown it in a skillet. Drain off the fat then rinse the meat with cold water and return it to the skillet.

Boil 6 quarts of water and cook the rice. This makes a butt load of rice. When done strain and drain the rice.

Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the meat in the skillet. Add the onion finely chopped and brown the combination together.

Then add the cooked rice to the skillet along with the tomatoes and sauce.

Cover and let simmer for 15 minutes.

Drain and rinse the 3 cans of black beans.

Add them to the skillet and mix well.

Add a bit of Cajun seasoning, pink Himalayan salt and some ground black pepper to taste. We like a bit of Mrs. Dash.

Put it on very low heat and let simmer for 45 minutes to an hour.

BON APPETIT!

I figure it costs around $12.00 to make this. There are at least 8 meals in a batch. Big time leftovers if you are into that.

That is $1.50 per meal. And it is real food that is good for you. If you want to splurge and spend an extra fifty cents on the meal, have a salad with it.

Why eat shitty fast food or some other crap when you can eat properly and not break the budget.

I had some leftover sausage and some hamburger that I didn't want to go to waste. So, I made a small meatloaf mixture from the hamburger, sausage, onion, carrot, bread croutons, egg, and milk. Seasoned with salt and pepper. Cut a large acorn squash in half and heaped the meatloaf into the squash nice and very full. Doesn't actually sound revulsing, but I wouldn't call this "recession-proof" or thrifty cooking by a far cry.

Making all this into a meatloaf and baking it (again) - for 1 hour and a half, no less ) - will not add to its life-giving potential other than making it able to provide calories. It will help you fatten quickly, that's for sure.

CHICKEN CACCIATORE IN A POT:

8 chicken thighs, skinless and boneless
1 can peeled whole tomatoes
1 can of water
4-5 large potatoes, cut in 4 pieces
2 green celery sticks, sliced
1 white onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
3 Tbsp. white wine vinegar
1/2 Tbsp. dry rosemary
salt and pepper to taste
2-3 Tbsp. oil for frying

- Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper and fry them in frying pan on both sides with little bit of oil, put aside
- In the same remaining oil fry onions
- Pour tomatoes with juice into a large pot and add 1 can of water, bring to a boil and add: Onions, garlic, celery, rosemary, potatoes and vinegar, cook everything together for 20 minutes
- Add chicken thighs and cook for another 30-40 minutes till the chicken and potatoes become tender
- If necessary add little bit of water when it evaporates during cooking

* I am not kidding with the vinegar as it goes together with this receipt
* I like this sauce a lot, so I use 2 cans of tomatoes and 1/3 cup of white wine vinegar

LEFTOVER PASTA RECIPE:

Any leftover cooked pasta
100-150 grams bacon or 2 hot dogs, sliced (optional)
4 eggs
1 medium white onion, chopped
oil for frying
salt and pepper to taste
1 Tbsp. green parsley or onions for garnish, chopped (optional)

- In the frying pan, fry bacon and onions
- Add pasta and fry for 3-5 minutes longer on a low heat
- Add eggs, salt with peeper and fry everything together for another 2-3 minutes till the eggs whites are solid, stirring the pasta occasionally

Instead of bacon you may add to the pan sliced hot dogs at the same time as pasta. You may do this way pasta only with fried onions and eggs. Taste good on its own or with ketchup on the side.

EGG SPREAD:

Another thread reminded me of this granola. Easy to make and very adaptable. You can substitute, leave out the nuts or coconut, and do a lot with it. You can use it as cereal or make it into trail or snack bars. It can be done in the oven, or a dehydrator. If it looks too expensive the way it is, the oats, syrup and raisins or other fruit still make a better granola than you can buy. Better yet if a little flavoring like vanilla, almond, cinnamon, etc. is added.


Granola
1 c. sliced almonds or any nut you prefer
5 c. oats
1 c. shredded coconut
1 c. raisins or other dried fruit
(I use dried cherries but add after the granola has been baked or dried)
1/2 c. maple syrup (to save money you could use Mapeline with corn syrup if you use it)
1/2 c. honey
1/3 c. oil
Mix ingredients all together until all ingredients are covered in the honey, maple syrup and oil. Place granola on a baking sheet at 150-170 degrees and bake for 1-2 hours or until dry or dry in food dehydrator.

Ok GLP lets teach those on foodstamps how to stretch a dollar & where they dont have to eat potted meat or beefaronis or ramen noodles.

^^^these foods have near no nutritional value and contribute to obesity.

for one - every supermarket must DATE their foods. shop in the store and note the DATE OF EXPIRATION. come back that day of expiration and those meats will be reduced by half or more.

shop at bread stores, where most of the bread is either 2/1.00 or 1.00 a loaf.



ill start off with a few - this will feed a family of 6. and for 2 nights.

remember - this isnt mcnastys where you can "supersize it"....the only thing that will supersize is your waist if you dont cut down on portions.

1.5 lbs ground chicken
one onion chopped.
^^cook til browned & onions tender. drain.
add 8 slices of cheese (or 1 can of campbells cheese soup)
low flame, simmer til cheese is melted.

pkg of wraps.
finely shredded lettus

spoon the meat/cheese into the wrap, add lettus,

makes a crap load. 2 maybe 3 nights worth.

I took a 5 gallon bucket filled with young london rocket (damn stuff grew during winter here in Arizona) and washed it all thoroughly and did some pickling. I used it as a side when I want something tart, tangy and a touch hot. Cost: zero.

I did have to mow a field of it down a few days later, but at least I got something out of it.

As far as meat, I have a lake or two that is filled with crayfish/crawdads and I can spend an afternoon dipping a chicken leg into the water and retrieving it with a mini lobster grabbing it. I fill a small cooler in a day's hunting.

Cost: gas money.

There you go. Recession proof survival.

- Spread with margarine and sprinkle with bread crumbs loaf baking dish
- Chop boiled eggs, dill, green parsley, green onions and mix together with green peas, sour cream, bread crumbs, raw egg yolk and add salt/pepper to taste
- Beat egg white with a dash of salt until fluffy and fold delicately into the egg mixture
- Pour the egg mixture into baking dish and sprinkle the top with bread crumbs, shredded cheese and melted butter or margarine
- Bake at 350 F for 35 minutes

Chicken and Dumplings the easy way:

Wide skillet
2 cans pot pie soup
1 can of biscuits

Put soup in pan on med. High
Cut biscuits in quarters and place randomly in pan
Cover for 20 min.

You can also take leftovers and add
Mushroom soup and put in the dumplings.

Tesla Coil.


Take 1,000 pounds (or 500 kg) of minced meat, prepare as you would for a meatloaf. Shape into a toroid.

Put into a (big ass) oven with sub-cooking temperature for about 6 hrs to give your Tesla Coil time to gently be penetrated by the heat. Then turn up the heat as you would for a normal meat loaf and bake for another 1/2 hour.

Serve with some parsley on top. Serves 2,500-3,000.

Some ideas for easy and fast Easter Dinners.


ORANGE CHICKEN:


6 chicken breasts halves, skinned and boned
1 can (6-oz) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed and undiluted
2 Tbsp. margarine
1 tsp. paprika
salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp. dried rosemary
1/2 tsp. dried thyme

- Preheat broiler. Place chicken on rack of broiler pan. Dot with margarine and broil 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.
- Transfer chicken to 13 by 9 inch baking dish. Sprinkle chicken with salt, pepper and paprika. Pour orange juice concentrate over the chicken and sprinkle with rosemary and thyme.
- Bake in preheated oven at 350 F for 20 to 30 minutes.


APRICOT CHICKEN:


6 chicken breasts halves, skinned and boned
1 (21-oz) can apricot pie filing
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup pecan halves
1/2 tsp. salt

- Arrange chicken breasts in baking dish. Sprinkle with little bit of salt and pepper.
- In a mixing bowl combine; apricot pie filling, lemon juice, 1/2 tsp.salt and nutmeg. Stir in pecans.
- Pour apricot mixture over chicken and cover the dish.
- Bake in preheated oven at 375 F for approximately 55-60 minutes.
- Arrange chicken on hot cooked rice and spoon apricot mixture on top.


BRAISED PORK CHOPS WITH MUSHROOMS:


5 medium or 4 large pork chops
1 medium onion, chopped
1,5 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 small can condensed cream of mushrooms soup
1/2 cup milk
1 large clove garlic, minced
1 Tbsp. oil

- In large skilled heat oil and brown chops 3 minutes on each side. Remove from the pan.
- In the same skillet fry onions and mushrooms. Stir in soup, milk and garlic. Bring to boil.
- Return chops to skillet, reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until tender, turning the chops halfway through cooking and stirring occasionally.
