I got 2 days off work from the last one, I could use a couple more. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14174945 Really? Your up in Canada right? You guys are use to the arctic weather I thought. If you don't mind me asking, what exactly did they cancel your work for? I only ask because when I spent some time in Wyoming, I actually saw stuff canceled based on temp and not snow. |

They canceled work cause the roads where to bad even for the plows, I live in the flats so when that wind blows the snow over the highway you can't see anything...very dangerous |

Quoting: Melrox Wow, thanks for digging into it, this is actually a big deal. Heating oil is up I think. People are low on money. This could hurt lives and actually really fuck up the economy. Plus, the public school student will be in school till the end of july at this pace bc they have to make up snow days. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 7322831 United States 01/17/2014 11:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I live in Georgia and last winter I left all my house plants on the attached screened in porch (I just moved against the house and out of the wind) and all survived. This year I did the same thing and they are all dead - all of them. Quoting: Turtles Voice My neighbor was complaining that although she covered plants in her yard with sheets and blankets during the cold snap, they're all dead. This polar vortex was hard on the South. Wow, thanks for the good reporting. It is great when people explain what the real effects are on the ground. That is crazy. I guess bringing in the tomato plants did not help in your case, lol. |

Big time arctic air will make a return to Indiana and Ohio starting around January 22nd and this time it will probably stay for a while. And maybe a long while. Well below normal temperatures are likely and subzero temperatures are likely from the end of January into February. Anonymous Coward User ID: 46960128 United States 01/17/2014 12:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The news here is saying that we will drop in temp. starting Tuesday (next week) and then the last week of January will be MUCH colder than the "polar vortex" to the point that "the world will be talking about it". Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46960128 They are also saying it will last at least three weeks. |
