Why do Christians think yoga is evil?
So I was talking to this Baptist who told me that doing yoga was Satanic.

WTF?

Yoga - satanic - I don't think so.

Yoga is a spiritual practice, a divine way to keep in shape.

Western yoga is like some spiritual cult, you never see women from India doing it in the USA for a reason.
When you find a piece of shit along side the road and you poke it with a stick, what do you expect to find inside of it, gold?
No, it's just going to stink more.

Re: Why do Christians think yoga is evil?
My understanding is that Yoga practice ultimately raises the kundalini, which is essentially the gateway to satan-land.

The tree of knowledge of good and evil planted in the center of the garden is the spinal chord planted in the hip and the branches and leaves are the brain. The forbidden fruit is the pineal gland, and the serpent is the kundalini urging you and tempting you to try to become like God.

This is akin to choosing your own ego versus the providence of God.

You can try to manifest your Earthly desires or you can trust that your needs are covered by God's love and care.

If you're going it alone, you essentially by default align yourself with Satan, the chief principality of "going it alone" for the ego on Earth. This is his world to rule, so if you choose it versus God, you are in league with Satan, whether you declare it or not.

Yoga means union. So if drinking tea, and you enjoy tea ceremonies, and they bring you peace and into union with yourself. Then that's your yoga.

My understanding is that kundalini or 'the raising of kundalini', is done primarily through breathwork, not the act of 'western' yoga. Yoga does incorporate breathwork and the more it is practiced the better and deeper the breathwork becomes. But by and large, western yoga that a 'Baptist' (don't mean to stereotype, just referring to this thread) would know is an exercise form of yoga or a stretching form.

The human body is a wonderful thing and can become weak, sick and broken without maintenance. Some yogi must have learned/taught yoga a long-ass time ago primarily for spiritual reasons but it has many benefits.

IMO the will to practice of yoga is ones desire to balance mind, spirit and body in a calm, yet physically challenging way. That shouldn't be feared or misunderstood.

What about the coccyx? Where does that fit into God's creation/plan. It seems the tail bone could be explained away as some designed structure rather than a functional one. The human spine as a whole is poorly designed for bipedal stance, which brings us back to yoga which aligns, strengthens and corrects the skeletal framework.

Re: Why do Christians think yoga is evil?
I stopped doing yoga for years because of this and my back pain was horrific. I began to pray about it and for me, I feel in my heart that it is okay. I do not do kundalini yoga because that does not feel right, for me. I am not trying to be godlike in any way. There is only one God. I have been to physical rehabilitation and many of the stretches I learned are from yoga. I think most importantly is what God tells you what to do and
what not to do.

You are playing with spirits that are satanic in the yoga thing. One opens themselves up to being played with at best and being full on attacked and possibly possessed at worst. It is not wise to do this. We are not supposed to do this kind of thing.

Almost everything we do praises us and our egos above God.

Examples : cars, money , big elaborate houses, jewelry , fancy clothes, status, title, yachts, airplanes, bombs, guns, etc etc :-)

Lol face it we love ourselves and our creations.
