I've been many times, there's partying to be done all day and night or you can head to the quiet places further north and chill on the beautiful white beaches with fresh sea foods on offer in most port villages, it's good to not party there at least once.

If you can drive, get a car and just hit the open road but drive safe. Almost one serious accident a week during the summer involving young people with inexperience on those roads.

There's other nice places to go and party such as Magaluff, Kavos etc... but there's only one Ibiza.

Its the Miami beach of Europe. Not recommended for Americans, you'll probably get framed with drugs or maybe a hooker.
