AMC movie theater calls “federal agents” to arrest a Google Glass user

For those that don't know, Google Glass is a wearable computing device that displays data on the inside of the lens. It can augment reality (providing data overlays), driving instructions, picture/movie taking, and many other functions.

This is really about 3 main things:

1) Fascists doing whatever the hell they want to and

2) Technology outpacing most peoples abilities to understand what and how it works

3) Privacy. Is it dead? Can anyone wearing Google Glass (or insert any tech here) be trusted?

so what? wtf is the theater going to do when just about everyone has these? There is even press talking google contacts. How the hell are they going to monitor that? Their butt-hurtfulness from losing money from pirating is getting quite ridiculous when they feel they should violate a paying customers 4th amendment! I am boycotting the AMC.

What's really interesting is as these kinds of devices become more prolific, we'll see a host of people wearing these types of devices WITH prescription lenses.

I haven't actually tried Google Glass, but if they were comfortable and functional, I'd replace my regular glasses in a heartbeat.

Some movie theater manager probably got a memo telling everyone to be on the alert for people with Google Glass taping movies.

So he sees someone who has them on and, as far as he can tell, hasn't taken them off in the theater when the lights dim, so he follows what the memo tells him to do:

Call the relevant authorities. Who, this being a federal offense AND an international crime, are investigative police of the Department of Justice, hence the FBI.

And then you have randomness to add in. Voila. Incident.

This is pretty unbelievable that they would call the feds for this. What they did was clearly illegal. I would press charges and file a civil suit with AMC.

If they had a clue they would have realized that them glasses
don't have a IR filter to record the movie. Guess you could
put a sheet of it on them but they would have seen it.

had a similar issue a AMC in NYC.
we showed up 50 minutes before the showtime.
the manger accused me and my 9 yr old of trying to watch other movies before our show......
