He needs a lot of help, but anything HAM seems to put a spark in his eyes. Unfortunately his equipment is not setup right at home or something is wrong with his antennae as we get mostly static. This could really be awesome for him as he was big into morse code, etc. Do you have anymore online receivers like this; does it matter where the receiver is located in relation to the bands? I mean to say is 7000 on FM in the Netherlands the same as 7000 in say Texas? Thx. Iam very sorry for the man, its a pity bright minds like him (the spark in his eyes show this) suffer from a disabled body (its not just a hobby, its a way of life and if you take someone out of this, he falls in depression, like pilots if you ground them, not all but the spark guys, this spark shine also inhis mind) to the point, something easy you can do is check the two connectors of the cable who go to the antenna and to the radio the cable have two wires, the central who is the rf carrier and the outer, like net, who is the ground and also shielding wire.. (its very similar to the tv antennas cables) both must be well soldered the rf to the central of the connector and the shield-ground to the outer of the connector if everything (connectors) its ok, next check the cable (broken, cut, or hard corners who can break it inside) if cable is also ok, next you check the ground normally your friend have a good ground (where the radio **must** be grounded) but hams who usually have not a lot of place for use (appartments)they tend to ground them on water pipes or to the house ground, where all other electric devices of the home are grounded, so, if one device malfunction and lose electricity or other rf/emf waves, it affects until destroy your radio (radios need a separate grounding, over 1 meter(3ft) pipe inside (if wet, is better) ground if thats the case, you must close one by one *every* electric device inside or out of the home until you found who is >leaking< rf/emf waves to the general ground if this doesnt fix the problem, next, go to the local amateur-ham club where **surely** you will find help from another brother ham (its amazing the help you can have from other hams, even today) and a good company to your friend also (ham community is from the best in society-world to help each other) online receivers are many (easy search in google) but this is the best i know until now [link to websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901] there is another one who can use to transmit also (free) but it needs a callsign and a password its not the real stuff (RF) just web, but better from nothing, and at last, you are on air you can also use it from your android phone from your car or as you take your walk, to talk to ham operators worldwide or your friends [link to www.google.gr] [link to www.hamsphere.com] 73 to that part of your question >>does it matter where the receiver is located in relation to the bands? I mean to say is 7000 on FM in the Netherlands the same as 7000 in say Texas? Thx.<< usually its better when your radio is near big water mass (oceans, great lakes or underground water) but not in relation to the bands the bands are opening ore closed in relation with the time of day and the position of the sun in the sky or no sun at all...20m usually opens the night but 40m are better daytime anyway you can find online or download a free propagation program and see your local propagation at any band any time of day to any place of the world ofcourse every day you discover something new and thats the magic of ham radio |

Quoting: waterlily For those who aren't familiar with numbers stations, they are carriers of coded messages broadcast to agents in foreign countries. Or, the reverse was also suspected of Woodpecker, that it interfered with numbers stations broadcasts of other nations. You can google "numbers station" to find out more, and here is a link to an article about numbers stations which discusses the Woodpecker. [link to northatlanticblog.wordpress.com] It would be interesting to know if the signal disrupts the big new UK listening station in Cyprus Interesting. +1 |

My mother told me I had a chameleon soul, no moral compass pointing due north, no fixed personality; just an inner indecisiveness that was as wide and as wavering as the ocean... And if I said I didn't plan for it to turn out this way I'd be lying... Because I was born to be the other woman. Who belonged to no one, who belonged to everyone. Who had nothing, who wanted everything, with a fire for every experience and an obsession for freedom that terrified me to the point that I couldn't even talk about it,and pushed me to a nomadic point of madness that both dazzled and dizzied me. |

The whole site would need to be rebuilt. Plus the power to run this was fed from Chernobyl which I don't think is working either.. I'm not saying this signal isn't out there I'm just saying its probably a new site. kinda makes me think taking out chernobyl was actually a strategic attack by the cia |

Trying to bring GLP together. I'm still collecting flags from posters all over the world. Thread: Official "Flags from around the world" thread. Hoping to get posts from all countries that frequent GLP. :gratefulsig: |

HAARP is for use with global positionning satellites and ELF tomography satellites used for locating submarines so it probably prevents US from locating Russian nuclear subs. Also probably interferes with GPS system. |

When submarines dive deep they are invisible to all forms of radar and you can't communicate with them, unless you are using a 10 megawatt system like the Woodpecker/Duga system. It's to communicate with submarines that are deep underwater. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 51196819 United States 02/08/2014 10:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For those not familiar with this notorious signal I will post the wiki. Quoting: GONZ [link to en.wikipedia.org] This signal was so powerful there were even specifically designed integrated circuits installed into televisions across the world to counteract the extreme effects of its interference even on fairly non-resonant electronics. The signal was in the millions of watts, possible even tens of millions, and disappeared in 1989. THE SIGNAL HAS APPEARED AGAIN. I was participating in a ham radio competition this weekend when i heard it, and figured it was someone messing around, but now many other reports are coming in about it. It has been reported on the "ham radio newsline report" but reported as over the horizon radar... which it sounds similar to but not exactly, with a large difference in signal strength. "The just released December 2013 issue of the IARU Region 1 Monitoring System electronic newsletter reports a new Russian over-the-horizon radar signal has been heard loud and clear in the 20 meter band. Wolfgang Hadel, DK2OhM, is the International Amateur Radio Union's Region One Monitoring Service Coordinator. He says that this latest Over The Horizon radar signal was about 10 kilohertz wide when it was heard and recorded on 14.305 MHz. And that it kind of sounded a lot like the infamous Russian Woodpecker radar system of days gone bye: But that's not the only place this new woodpecker-like interference has been heard. Other reports say this latest incarnation of the Russian Woodpecker has also shown up on 15 and 10 meters making a pest of itself on those bands as well." [link to www.arnewsline.org] I heard this signal last weekend on the 20 meter band but figured is was a radio troll aka a "lid" in my area, but now due to multiple reports from various areas it appears what I heard was something else... From the signal I heard, and speaking with a few others about it, I believe this is not standard Over the Horizon Radar. I believe this is the original woodpecker signal and possibly the same transmitter in Ukraine (who is going to look there with the riots going on. If so the purpose of this, which has been suspect to many conspiracy, needs to be considered. The signal has been across the HF spectrum but at a few interesting frequencies which I am working on getting a recording of. Let me be the first to say, so what. |
