On "theory/scales etc",...yes, some, but I'm still learning. I never had a music class in school. I didn't even know how to read music prior to starting a few months ago. My instructor has a degree in music (guitar). I never understood how someone could go to college to study a musical instrument. It didn't take long to understand. I never knew there was so much to know, and master. Last Edited by salty1 on 01/28/2014 02:57 AM saltyone USMC 0341/0331 |

I'm sure my little thread will be buried on page 28 before too much longer. Thanks for the comment though! Click on some of the videos. The feel of it, and the resonance when you curl a blues note. just gorgeous! I can stick it in the washing machine and it will still be in tune when i get it out! just beautiful and made my other guitars obsolete. |

The MIM is nice also. I want a HSH Deluxe one day. If I ever have $2,500 to play with, I may get one. Thanks! Last Edited by salty1 on 01/28/2014 03:23 AM saltyone USMC 0341/0331 |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 53527340 United States 01/28/2014 10:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I used to run/jog a lot too. I started a number of years ago as a hobby that didn't cost too much money, and would not destroy my knees, ankles and body. I don't have much real talent, but with hard work I'm able to crunch out some pretty cool tunes. Lately I've been learning plectrum style nylon acoustic songs, and I've discovered it's a pretty good way to practice and entertain others. With a couple of guitars, a "camping" guitar and a pretty decent nylon acoustic you can be pretty entertaining for others. You can toss it in your car, go camping, visit friends, and fap out a couple of tunes. I have several electric guitars Strat style, and a cluster of gadgets, and amps. With all of the electronics and wires and power supplies it gets to be a kind of hassle now? I just recently learned "Everybody's Got a Home but Me"? A song from a Broadway Musical or something? It fits the times we live in? Stick with it... |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 53527417 United States 01/28/2014 12:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | oh good, yet another guitarists who wants to play dark rock... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 50461247 please study all kinds of music so you have something to offer other than blinding fast solos and deep distorted "chugga chugga chugga" riffs I started out with metal and rock. Thought I was hot shit until I went to a little guitar shop where the old man was giving lessons. I showed him my technical skill and felt really good. Then he says, let me show you this. He then proceeds to play these ragtime fingerstyle songs. I was blown away. I left very, very humbled. Been playing fingerstyle and classical style guitar ever since. |
