How to get annoying/scam calls to stop
For weeks at least twice a day I was getting calls about my computer not being "secure".

Some of these people spoke english, some did not.

I tried saying take me off your list. I tried saying I know this is a scam.

Nothing worked. Finally...I answered saying "hello, this is homeland security. How may I direct your call?"

Guess what? They hung up on me and I haven't been bothered since.

Sorry, but it was getting REALLY annoying, running for the phone just to see "toll-free call" yet again.

I've had more than one serious calls about loved ones being in bad accidents, so yes I do run when the phone rings.

Lol! Reminds me of the nuisance calls I used to get before. Always talk about the product they're selling and that I supposedly purchased an item but forgot to give them my credit card. That was just lousy, very obvious bluff. I usually hang up as soon as they start reading their scripts. But at times when I've got nothing to do, I pull jokes on them. And it's funny when its them who become frustrated. Hahah!

But the funniest tips to annoy telemarketers I got from [link to www.callercenter.com] . Didn't think talking to telemarketers could be so funny! haha! Too bad, they realized I knew what they were up to so they just stopped calling. Tsk tsk tsk. Now, whenever I'm at home, I sit by the phone and wait for their call. :(

The automated spam phone calls annoy me the most.... Used to always get this one where I would pick up and a cruisliner horn would sound and I would get a mesage from the 'Captain' telling me about a free trip that I won, lol....

I had one similar to that where the guy told me my "Windows" was spreading viruses to other computers. I told him I didn't have a computer, and he played stupid. I repeated that I didn't have a computer and he said, "What?! Everyone has a computer. You're lying." lol So I said, "Well not me! So why are you calling me telling me my computer is spreading viruses when I don't even own a computer?!" Then he started cursing at me. chuckle

I've also resorted to, "My husband is a police officer, you can call back later, and speak to him."

Most of the time I don't pick up, but when I'm in a mood and their call has irritated me, I will answer and have a little fun. :D

haha Nice. I very rarely get calls from actual companies. Mine are mostly scammers with thick accents that I can barely make out. The computer guy used to call incessantly, but those stopped. Now it's a "clean your air duct" scam that keeps calling.

chuckle I did the same thing many times. When power companies call I say we run extension cords from the business next door.

It is obvious that the Big Phone companies are in on these scams.
They can track every call for the NSA.
Why can't they block and destroy "John in shipping.
BigTel sucks.

Usually I never answer the phone so I don't care, but I've been inspired by your username and now...

Now, I'm waiting for them to call me because I want to sing them a James Taylor song...

But you know what? They are all AI now so I may as well sing to my programmable coffeepot (don't think I won't).

LOL...Thanks for the tip!

I get two-three calls every single day. When I tell them to remove me from their list, the same people call the next day, the next week, the next month....at least two times a week.

If I ignore the calls, they leave a message. Then I have to erase them from my answering machine, so I usually answer and tell them to take me off their list.

The most calls I get are trying to lower my interest on credit cards. I tell them I don't carry interest...that I pay them off every month, and the guy has the nerve to question that. lol Yesterday was the lastest call from them.

Yesterday I also received a call wanting me to update my expired warranty on my 2008 automobile. They call me once a week, and I tell them the same thing....I'm not interested and take me off your calling list. Never works. Next time I will tell them I don't have a car.

The ones that also irritate me are from the police benevolent league....wanting me to donate to policemans' kids who are left behind. The last time I told them that my grandson's dad wasn't a cop but he was killed (true) and no one donated to my grandson. They never called back.
