Ok seriously, if we dropped a nuclear bomb on it would it help? Would it burn up the nuclear fuel and spread it in the atmosphere? I know that might sound like a bad idea but we already set off a couple nukes in Japan already and humanity is still here, Infact people still live in the cites were they were set off.

Kaku is Japanese and he's protecting the Japanese! He released this statement very early on, knowing they would get evacuated and nothing would happened. He expressed extreme, rapid doom so throw mainstream society off the longterm, slow-moving devastating effects.

Since there is no existing technology to fix really any of these problems and the countless others I’m not even mentioning, TEPCO humans have to manage the pouring, leaking, and moving of stuff on their own, to make it appear to the rest of the world that they are actually doing something to fix the situation overall, which they aren’t. And all this while avoiding the insta-fry spots, which are being found with greater frequency, much to the dismay of the plant workers (and probably the robots too, if they could talk). Suzuki has to know this. Apparently he didn’t have the time or energy to get into it further. Because the fact of the matter is, if radiation levels continue to skyrocket at the site, it’s really just a matter of time before humans will not be able to work there, regardless of the cause. Which leads to evacuation of Fuku, which leads to another huge radiological release, which leads to bye bye Japan, and which leads to the dreaded west coast evacuation scenario. However, it wouldn’t be just the west coast that would need to be evacuated…but in the interest of staying on topic, we’ll save that discussion for another day."

Whether true or not, humans would definately rate at a zero.

The civilization type are a cognitive exercise based on energy consumption/production per year, this is the Kardashev scale, originally it was a fixed scale and has since be modified to be a continuum scale.

To calculate the Kardashev number of a civilization the formula is:

K = (log10 P - 6) / 10, Where P is expressed as Power use in Watts

it is estimated that for 2040 we will produce/consume 2.74154016e+13 watts

Plugging this value in gives a K value of ~ 0.74 or closing in on a Kardashev 1 civilization.

The only reason chernobl was worse, is because it caught on fire and burned for days. That is why Fuku is trying to remove the spiny fuel rods stored over the reactor. If the colapses and catches on fire, it would burn for weeks spewing radioactive smoke into the atmosphere.

Chernobyl has a sarcophagus over it that was built to last 50 years. A new one is being built to be completed in 2015 that is supposed to last 100 years. Another one will have to be build again after that 100 years are up. this one being built now will cost billions of euros and is being paid for internationally. It is being built off- site and will be the biggest moveable structure to have ever been built.

Chernobyl did explode- yes, but it is not exploding anymore and yet it is necessary to cover it and to continue covering it for who knows how long.

Fukushima does not have anything covering it to prevent radioactive particles from leaking and nothing can be built over it because the ground is too saturated with the water that is continually being poured over it. No structure can be built because the ground is unstable and any heavy structure will collapse on top of the reactor making it worse.
Nobody can get close enough- no human or robot to do anything about it
No one has any plans of building anything over it.

Basically nothing can be done. The radioactivity will continue to contaminate the world for 100s of years.

Expect cancer rates to rise

Eat lots of miso soup, vegetables avoid meat dairy and fish because higher up on the food chain there is more bio accumulation
