I am one of the long time unemployed and I can't even get a job through a temp agency. I seriously don't know what to do. My husband was laid off six months ago and all we had too live on and it was cut off at the first of the year. Our children are grown so thank god we only have ourselves to worry about. We have been walking to apply for jobs because we don't have gas money. If our phone gets cut off we won't be able to get any calls from anyone that might hire either one of us. This cock fight between the rep.and dems. Will probably put us on the streets.

Your full of it! I live about 50 miles east of "ASSville" and run a manufacturing plant for automotive. Just as the other gentleman said; for awhile you could not find anyone who wanted to work. Some never even came back from orientation after lunch! It has picked up and I also see a better group of people that show up and stay. As far as wages go we start without any skills at $12.00 plus and top out around $28.00 for skilled trades that aren't salary. You live in a town that used to be tourist based economy and mostly still is. Unfortunately it has become the "East Coast version of San Fan-faggo." Gays, Lesbos, Starving artist, Tree huggers, you know basically Idiotville. You just need to move if you want a good job. No, I won't post the name of the plant either; won't be that hard to find if you have half a brain. If you can't maybe that is where the problem lies.

The "can't find enough people for the jobs we're offering" is perhaps the most hilarious piece in the entire establishment propaganda manual. Those of us who know loved ones that have been actively searching for jobs the past few years know that this is simply not happening, anywhere, in the USA. On the contrary, most jobs have over 100 applications for them, even the crappiest ones.

McDonald's had a MILLION applicants for their newly created 50,000 job openings a few years back. Now, it is reported that McDonald's-considered by everyone as the basement level for job seekers-is hiring SIX out of every 100 applicants. Harvard lets in 7 out of 100. That ought to tell you something.

You really need to educate your self. There has been record breaking sales in automotive. What is automotive you ask? I'll help you a bit. Believe it or not there are thousands of parts that go in each car built. The OEM's (That is GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda, etc.) don't make all these components...really they don't little libtard. So we build these things called Factories and they make things like Radios, Tires, Drivetrain Systems, Transmissions, Interiors, etc. Then you put them on things called Trucks, Planes, and Containers (These go on big boats...oh) These parts are all shipped to the OEM's and they assemble cars and trucks from them. Just so you know little tard we actually export to China, Korea, Japan, Russia, Spain, Italy. So....again you are 100% wrong again, the jobs are there and we ship over seas every single day and we are still growing. You really need educate yourself more before you tray and talk about issue you have NO Clue about. Just so you know the "NEW" push in manufacturing is called "Localization" built at point of use. Where do you think the most cars are sold little one? I'll help you...That would be the USA and China. That is the end of manufacturing 101 for now.

So the reality is nothing has changed... few of those people denied actually went out and got jobs because of it.

This is a misleading statistic being portrayed as a success when all it means is that more people unable to find work are no longer receiving financial assistance.

There is a problem with that graph. If you will look at the identical report for the summer, you will see that the two bars for 2013 are very close.

Then look at the publication for the Winter, which is at the link you gave, and you will see a drastic difference in the bars for wages for the state and for the country. That is the first clue that there is an error in the graph. They should be tracking very closely. You can verify it by checking it yourself.

I'll just give my local experience. I live in WNC, close to Ashe Vegas. a huge diphole.

The company I work for has grown by about at least 30% in total employment, we actually bought a company in Atlanta and are incorporating them, while allowing them to stay themselves, just having them do things our way is the main goal, I am not including this in that 30% growth either (that 30% growth is just the one I see, we actually have people working in closets now b/c we grew so fast), and they are hiring even more for the Atlanta "location" now. This after we bought a company in Texas, and also one all the way over in the UK. We have so many new faces that I feel like I don't know anyone anymore,,, I've been there quite a while and hope to be there for more. It's losing the family feel and feels so much more corporate now though..

There are two large breweries who are both setting up shop in the area. Sierra Nevada and New Belgium are both setting up shop for their eastern operations here.

There's more going on than just that, but, just an example I could give you folks.

Anyone saying there isn't opportunity here, well, I dunno. That said, wages are low comparative to the cost of living. Wish that would even out a little.

Sorry to much thread to read, however NC is a great place to live and work, I've never had an issue finding a job, people are fleeing here from other states for the jobs and weather!
Especially the Yankees for f@ck sakes.
