I don't mind hair in the places nature intended, and neither does my wife. But she still shaves her pits.

Why?

Because she is a teacher, and it's hard enough to bring some sense into today's media-brainwashed kids without having them go "eeew!" as soon as you enter the room.

we are in constant battle with our ancestoral DNA heritage vs our future destination...
i don't see why anyone should shave. we developed hair because our ancestors had to hide in caves and for us not to freeze etc.since we don't live in caves anymore and make our clothes it is all a heritage.
.Girls are also kinda sexy to men when they have a lot of hair on their hands ( to some men)
Its all here for reason.
But as we are getting further away from nature, the magazines, popular culture, fashion and other things that man made up are forcing a new image upon the world that most will open handedly accept and thus the tools that we created are also making a different man of the future. Biologically different.
So i think there is nothing to be ashamed of.
Girls are attractive nomatter if they have hair on their body or not. IT is just ancestoral heritage and something we shouldn't be ashamed of. Its all good, most stuff that we believe in and adore are only a fashion of the moment. Some people 200 years from now will look at us and say: geez. how could they wear that awful things

LOL, Croatia. See, OP, its a cultural thing. In Croatia they like hairy-handed wenches. Don't worry about it so much! In winter, no one knows. In summer, you can shave less. Look what A&F store did with their mannequins, did you see that story? They gave them muffs and nipples. I thought that was hilarious. It's a good thing I'm too old to shop there because I think I prolly woulda busted out laughing.

I am a woman and don't shave as often as I used to, due to being one of the "long term UI" ... Trying to keep a sense of humor.

And I meant to add, OP, aside from the body hair issue, I agree in general with your headline. Society could use some reform. I am not sure how to proceed from where I am, shriveling up in a horrible little depressed town in Northern Colorado. I live in Zombieville. Everyone here is completely brainwashed.

I am a female. However unlike most I don't really cater to social norms. However there is one that even I have trouble getting past, body hair. Body hair is supposed to be there, yet society says that girls should shave their legs and armpits. I find the concept ridiculous yet I myself can't seem to get past it. I'm brainwashed and it's really bothersome to me. Why do humans, not just females, try so desperately to be something we're not? This is not right and I honestly think I will be leaving society very shortly. I need to live in harmony with the earth. I'm not giving back what I'm taking away, society as a whole is not. It's all wrong. I finally see that.

No matter how unconventional one is by nature - or wants to become - there are certain COMMON SENSE standards that apply.

Excessive hair on female legs and under the arms is not particularly hygienic, much less aesthetically appealing, not just to the opposite sex, but to one's own self.

Being an individual and nonconformist and going against the stystem does not mean that you reject ALL social norms, but rather, it's about common sense, rational thinking, and doing what you know, intellectually, is the best thing.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54094864

Gee! You could urgently use a course in logic.

By your reasoning, men should be shaved all over, daily. What makes men's underarm and leg hair (not to mention chest, arm, back hair, pubic) hygienic and ok to keep??

Psychologists tell us that hairless women are attractive to many men because they look most like children.

Women have been brainwashed into looking like dolled-up children.

Why should any woman play along with this undertone of pedophilia? (Which we now know is epidemic throughout the world and has wrecked millions of women's and girls' lives).

The best thing?! Really? So a man having hair in all those places is more "hygienic"? Total BS.

But wait, men are shaving their whole bodies now too. Better to show off their tats!

I agree - fucked up culture in the USA.

Celebrity worship
Sports obsession
Political malfeasance
Social narcissism
Rampant ignorance
Materialism
Drug addiction

We have lost our way. We are obsessed with materialism. We are obsessed with ourselves. We cram ourselves into large communities, and yet know no one.

Now the financial system is collapsing many find that their lives are vacuous.

Agreed.
People try to emulate what they're projected at.
It's a mixture of Pavlovian Psychology, Exploited Neuroplastic Research, and Psych-Social programming.

The majority of people get their information through "social-absorption" rather than critical analysis, and therefor live their lives full of mass-marketed lies and aggressive assumptions.
This has left the world ripe for exploitation and social cannibalism.

It takes people decades before they hit a bump in the road and ask "what am I doing? what are we doing? what sequence of events lead me to this? why am I not thinking critically? what is going on? where are we headed?"

It's ok, you're not alone.
I'm planning on dropping some docs on the net in the future that will explain everything to everyone in a simple entertaining way.
Topics: Biology, Conformity, Distinctions between proof-based facts and beliefs, Anti-social Authority, Simulacrum, Logical fallacies, etc...

Rollin Lo-tech Style.

Shaving has a lot to do with being youthful. More and more men are getting into shaving all over. A lot of women who choose not to shave tend to wear clothing that covers it up. It is a cultural thing more than anything else. It is also a childish thing to pressure everyone to look desirable within the group. We grow up with it and it sticks.

I am a male. I dislike wearing clothing around my genital area as it is restrictive. Since my cawk is unusually large and robust, this is a bigger problem for me than for most males.

In nature, there are no clothes. Why can't I walk around with my enormous dick hanging out free as the breeze? I truly dispise the unnatural way society constrains my mighty member.

You know what's worse than the hair-trimming socialization?

The gender socialization, especially of females. It's disgusting. I live in Newport and I literally want to puke when interacting with these women.

It's the most superficial nonsense i've ever encountered. It's all about materials and status. Almost every single aspect of their life and day. I can't stand the thought.

Evolution is ridding the human body of hair, except where it is aesthetically or functionally necessary.

I have not shaved my legs in almost two years. Now with reading this post, I just looked at my legs, and the hair there. Wow, I only have a small amount of small hairs on the shins. All hair is gone from the sides and back of shin/calf. I used to have to shave it all the time. The thigh has no har now whatsoever, maybe I am going bald on my legs?

By the way, I stopped shaving when the mosquitoes broke out 2 summers ago, the hair alerts me and at least I have a chance to smack them before they get me.

And yes,

I do shave the underarms.

Why is this thread pinned?

It's not really about how despicable society is - it's about a female who doesn't want to shave and be clean and wants others to validate that desire.

Bleh!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54094864

Well.. it seems people are not interested about real issues anyways, so at least we can try to talk about it in a bigger concept here.

We already have the daily "I fucking hate gays/black/man/white/poor/rich/asian/jews/Obama/whatever"-thread quote filled, so it is time to talk about feminism, hate women and wait who finds the best awkward transition to blame it all on Obama and how ugly Michelle is - with his..err..her facial hair!!11111
 Quoting: PilgriMage

It's really obnoxious that everyone is talking about feminism that is not what this thread is about at all. I was using a personal example that bothers me, it can also be applied to men though. For example a man who doesn't shave his face will typically be considered dirty or unclean.

Men in the Porn Industry were the only ones who waxed and shaved everything for film purposes.

The average joe is now under a lot of pressure to start doing it as the norm now because of that. Wemon think plastic boobs should be the norm now too because most of the wemon in porn have them.

Think about. Porn is highly suggestible on Western society. all that kinky and fucked up fetish shit comes from it too. They have the power to steer us in any direction. That concerns me so I personally want no part of it.

You're missing the point. I completely understand that I have complete and utter control over what I do with my body. However I don't feel comfortable not shaving and that bothers me to no end. I've been raised to believe that women should shave and it's very difficult for me to try and get past that. This hair is here for a reason I know that, yet there's that part of me that think it's gross and unattractive and I don't want to feel that way.

Hi Op...Your body should be treated as your own personal temple...What others have to say about it is not their concern, unless you invite them in...Don't be afraid to "let your hair down" so to speak and never allow others to make decisions for you...

You have every right to feel as though you are in control of what makes you happy...If you are of a mind to go all natu`rale then by all means go for it...What others are neglecting to tell you is that hair on humans is not there to be a nuisance, but is supposed to be a self regulating thermometer for hygiene and comfort purposes...We are throwbacks of an age when the hair was used for temperature regulation both in the winter and in the summer...

I for one never cut my hair and only trim my beard occasionally, but what you do is your own business...

Don't let the others on this thread tell you what is right for you, only you know what that is...Live your life as you see fit and never eat day old sushi...

Just sayin'...
