However there is one that even I have trouble getting past, body hair. Body hair is supposed to be there, yet society says that girls should shave their legs and armpits. I find the concept ridiculous yet I myself can't seem to get past it. I'm brainwashed and it's really bothersome to me. Why do humans, not just females, try so desperately to be something we're not? This is not right and I honestly think I will be leaving society very shortly. I need to live in harmony with the earth. I'm not giving back what I'm taking away, society as a whole is not. It's all wrong. I finally see that. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 50841224 No matter how unconventional one is by nature - or wants to become - there are certain COMMON SENSE standards that apply. Excessive hair on female legs and under the arms is not particularly hygienic, much less aesthetically appealing, not just to the opposite sex, but to one's own self. Being an individual and nonconformist and going against the stystem does not mean that you reject ALL social norms, but rather, it's about common sense, rational thinking, and doing what you know, intellectually, is the best thing. |

Being an individual and nonconformist and going against the stystem does not mean that you reject ALL social norms, but rather, it's about common sense, rational thinking, and doing what you know, intellectually, is the best thing. What is the correlation between common sense and body hair? If hair grows, then why remove it? Just BECAUSE it's what's "normal" doesn't mean it should be done. It just is what it is. Explain how "excessive" (please define that also) hair on female legs and under arms is not particularly hygienic. I fail to see the connection. Aesthetics- I obviously understand when talking about the opposite sex, but to one's own self- I have to say, this is something in particular OP is talking about. WHY does it have to affect your own perception of yourself? Why can't we just be happy with our natural self instead of having to change appearance? You're saying women should shave so that they look good to themselves. I say that's pretty poor rationale. I'll admit too that I trim my facial hair and like to keep my hair a certain way. I had it cut to Air Force regulations for the last decade, so I'm used to that and always liked it short anyways, just because it was easy to cut it that way by myself. I hate hair touching my ears, it's a personal thing, but I really do understand where OP is coming from with this thread. I'm with her on this one. |

rezony User ID: 54099781 Croatia 02/08/2014 10:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | we are in constant battle with our ancestoral DNA heritage vs our future destination... i don't see why anyone should shave. we developed hair because our ancestors had to hide in caves and for us not to freeze etc.since we don't live in caves anymore and make our clothes it is all a heritage. .Girls are also kinda sexy to men when they have a lot of hair on their hands ( to some men) Its all here for reason. But as we are getting further away from nature, the magazines, popular culture, fashion and other things that man made up are forcing a new image upon the world that most will open handedly accept and thus the tools that we created are also making a different man of the future. Biologically different. So i think there is nothing to be ashamed of. Girls are attractive nomatter if they have hair on their body or not. IT is just ancestoral heritage and something we shouldn't be ashamed of. Its all good, most stuff that we believe in and adore are only a fashion of the moment. Some people 200 years from now will look at us and say: geez. how could they wear that awful things |

Will all these material objects really matter in the end? Of course not, our experiences in life will be what matters. There's so much this world has to offer yet we destroy it and shut it out with all this meaningless stuff. |
