Live in MN. Never have used chains on my tires. We also frequently get the whole ice under snow thing here. We have to deal with icy roads in the cities even when it doesn't snow because it is cold enough to freeze exhaust and cause black ice. One of my cars has almost bald tires and I can still get through the snow and ice. Remember ice melts with salt. Unless your temps are below zero which I doubt they are. It is really effective.

Ha Ha! Yeah whatever. You just learn how to drive in this stuff when you live up here. I remember taking drivers ed in the winter and having to take my test in snowy conditions. As with most things in life there is really no good substitute for experience. I live in a rural location and have to leave my house early to commute to the city, often before the plows can get the roads cleared if it snowed overnight.
