PESTTRAP/SPYWARE INFECTION | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 104189 ![]() 06/11/2006 12:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sorry about your luck man! I had this sucker before and it is SOOOOO hard to get rid of.... I had to reboot to factory settings to get rid of it. It is a trojan dropper, so the mother program is deeply buried and gives birth to all sorts of secondary programs, Pest trap is only one of it's "babies"... It will eventually hijack your homepage and browser to bring you to different fake "spyware sweeper" programs, like blackmail really... The main worm that causes this is different variations of the Zlob virus... Google "Zlob virus" for more info... Good luck, you'll need it! |

The software they want you to buy is made by the same folks who put the spyware on your system. You see, they want you to buy their software, but you have to have a reason to first. So they create the problem. Do not ever buy that stuff. If you want to really get rid of it, you need to do your homework on that virus/spyware and find out just exactly how to remove it. It can be a long, frustrating road. Sometimes it's just best to format the drive and reinstall everything. Welcome to the internet. |

You need MUCH more to be secure. Start with Spywareblaster, it's freeware, and will prevent more of the malicious spyware from ever getting installed on your system. www.javacoolsoftware.com THEN add Adaware SE Pro, AND Use it's AdBlock component. Add HijackThis, and a GOOD anti-virus program, AND update all of them as often as possible, and you'll probably be safe. But STILL don't trust anything that pops up an ad when your're browsing the Net. In fact, use Firefox with the popup blocker add-on. Lastly, check out OutPost Pro firewall (www.agnitum.com), and learn to use all of it's features. |
